Vacation Rental Description

This rustic Victorian lakeside cottage on crystal clear Phillips Lake in Lucerne-in Maine is 
available by the week. The cottage sits on a granite bluff 30 feet from the water with fragrant pine 
needles for a lawn. It is in a virgin section of woods with several trees that are hundreds of years 
old.  The cottage is one mile off Route 1A between Bangor and Ellsworth. Acadia National Park is 
about 45 minutes away. The Lucerne Inn with fine dining and a golf course is 5 minutes 
away.No smoke/pets.                      

Vacation Rental Amenities

The cottage features a living room with fireplace, three bedrooms upstairs with double beds, large 
dining room, kitchen, bathroom with hot shower, wrap-around porch, canoes and life jackets. The 
cottage, with its Victorian turret tower, was built in the late 1890's. On the first floor 
the "tower section" features an oval dropleaf table which offers intimate dining for 4 to 5 people 
with an outstanding view of the lake. On the second floor is the "tower bedroom" with the best lake 
view in the entire cottage. Here you can lie in bed on a summers night and listen to the loons while 
watching the moon rise over the lake. The other two bedrooms also have lake views. The largest 
bedroom (not the tower room) has a double bed and a twin bed. The living room is furnished with 
numerous chairs, a writing desk, a day bed, and numerous rocking chairs by the fireplace. In the 
dining room is a long table and chairs that can easily accomodate ten people. The kitchen has a 
double sink, refrigerator, electric stove and oven, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. It is 
equipped with dishes, silverware, pots and pans etc. There is hot and cold running water in the 
kitchen and bathroom. The water is lake water and we do not drink it. Bottled water will be provided 
for you. Phillips Lake is a crystal clear spring fed lake, and we do swim, shower, wash dishes, even 
brush our teeth in it. On the wrap-around porch there are porch rockers and benches. You can sit 
there on an antique porch rocker with your morning coffee and watch the sun rise over the lake. 
There is no dishwasher, no washer/dryer, no cable or internet. There are however board games and 
shelves of books. This is not a luxury timeshare or condo. This is a rustic Maine Victorian lakeside 
summer cottage and we love it just the way it is.    

Activities and Attractions

Swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, biking (bring your bike). Golf and fine dining at nearby Lucerne 
Inn. Mount Desert Island is 45 minutes away with Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, whale watching 
boat trips, sailing trips available, hiking trails and Sand Beach.  

Vacation Rental Rates

Weekly rates are $850 June through August till September 13. Deposit required: $425 to reserve your 
week(s). The balance is due two weeks prior to your arrival. WEEKS STILL AVAILABLE: June 21-28 
June 28-July5  July 5-12 July 19-26.
