Vacation Rental Description

This turn of the century home, built by an original Swedish 
Immigrant sits high on a hill in the tiny Village of Stockholm, 
Wisconsin on Lake Pepin, just 6 miles from the town of Pepin.
There is a view of the lake through the trees during the winter 
months.  Stockholm is located just 1 1/2 hrs from the Minneapolis & 
St. Paul International Airport. The home appeals to women's groups 
such as Mom's Clubs for get-a-ways, book clubs, craft groups such as 
scrap booking, knitting, rug hooking, milestone birthday party 
celebrations, family reunions etc. The home is within easy walking 
distance to the Village shops, restaurants, galleries. and casual 
dining. Visitors with children will find the home especially 
welcoming.  For urban dwellers TansyHus offers a 
quiet neighborhood, on a street without traffic.  Bring the kids 
bikes to this friendly little Village.  The home has accomodations 
for up to nine (7-8 during the winter months). The Stockholm area is 
a popular destination for artists, architects, musicians and

its affable spirit. Take part in a cooking class offered at the 
Village gourmet shop and cooking school, at the Palate (guests at

Vacation Rental Amenities

TansyHus has been thoughtfully remodeled by 
the owner, a California based architect and lighting designer.  
There is a sparkling new kitchen fully equipped with dishwasher, 
well stocked for the serious cook. The majority of the home has new 
interior paint, new window coverings and a complete 1/2 bath on the 
first floor. For the extended stay, the home has a new, full sized 
washer and dryer. During the warmer months, there is a pretty front 
porch looking through the trees toward Lake Pepin.  The first 
floor parlor complete with original stained glass window, has a 
queen size pull out sofa and television.  The second floor has a 
remodeled bathroom with shower tub. There are 3 additional upstairs  
bedrooms, plus a seasonal sleeping porch with a queen size roll out 
bed.  There is wireless high speed internet, central air and heat, & 
local telephone. Please, only 2 dogs with pet deposit.  Good 
availability.

Activities and Attractions

Bald Eagle viewing and counting is a big attraction in late winter and early spring.  Bring 
binoculars, camera, and the hot chocolate!.  Go to the web site for the National Eagle Center in 
nearby Wabasha, MN.  You will find their link on the TansyHus web site. In the Village, walk to one 
of Stockholm's newest attraction, The Palate, an upscale gourmet kitchen store and cooking school, 
just 2 blocks from TansyHus. Take in festivities: Bike tour in eary June 08, the Lake Pepin Art & 
Cider festival the final weekend in September, a new event the first weekend in December, the Mid-
Evil Fest.  Check the TansyHus website links for further area attractions and activities.  The Blue 
bikes have been reconditioned and are ready for visitors to the Village of Stockholm!
	
In spring 08, a new pie shop opens on Spring Street, next to The Abode Gallery. The area offers the 
traditional recreational activities such as sailing, fishing and recreational 
boating on Lake Pepin.  Visiting the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder, picking blue berries in mid 
summer, bird and bald eagle watching, especially during migration seasons. 
Artists studio tours occur in May and again in early October. 
The summer's Stockholm Art Fair is a single day event in July with more than 100 
regional & national artists and crafts people. Visit the Pepin Art & Design Center just 5 miles from 
TansyHus the town of Pepin. Don't forget the ever popular motor cycling, bicyling & hiking. There 
are numerous picturesque back roads of this great river's driftless area. Visit the National Eagle 
Center (newly rebuilt in 2007)in Wabasha, MN just 20 minutes from TansyHus. The first weekend in 
December wraps up the fall season with festive holiday activities. On September 27th, the Second 
Annual Art+Fire event takes place in Stockholm with nationally and internationally known artists. 
When you are a guest at TansyHus, include a Tuesday night in your iternary.  One of the Stockholm 
area's many organic farmers hosts 'Pizza Night' on the green. It is not to be missed! Contact the 
owner of TansyHus for directions to Pizza Night.  There are no signs and you will need the insider's 
directions.  TansyHus is a restful respite and destination for the weary urban dweller.  Call or
