Beautiful lake-centric home perfect for large families or executive
retreats. Unique design with 2 story wall of glass for exceptional
lake views. Massive multi-level deck with screen room. Jacuzzi.
Wooded walkway from deck to double-slip covered dock. This is one of
the largest homes on the lake - each of the 7 bedrooms has private
baths. Additionally there are 2 separate loft areas, one with 4 twin
beds, the other with 2 twin beds.
The property is convenient to I85, just 5 miles off either exit 173
or exit 177. A public boat ramp is located within 1 mile of the
home.

Best Vacation EVER!

I put this vacation together because my husband has ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) and I wanted to get all of the family and friends together one last time for him. Hartwell Manor is the perfect home for a large group to gather to celebrate life and memories. The 7 bedrooms are huge with new mattresses and bedding on all of the 13 beds (I know it says 7 bedrooms in the description, but there are 6 twin beds in two lofts!) Even with a large group in the house, the bedrooms offer quiet solitude if you need some down time. We used the upper kitchen and deck for breakfast and lunch and the downstairs kitchen and screened porch were perfect for cooking out at dinner time. The people in the area are some of the sweetest I have ever met. I needed someone to help get my husband bathed and dressed in the morning. I looked in the phone book and called an agency that didn't do that type of work, but the lady on the phone said she would ask around and call me back. It turned out that our angel "Erin" came from a friend of a friend of a friend who knew someone. She was so gentle and kind. The guests age range was 4 - 86. All but two made it in to the jacuzzi. The game room was a hit with the boys and the girls were the best at fishing. We rented a pontoon boat and did some tubing. Toccao has a great restaurant called Cornerstone, but most restaurants are only open Thursday - Saturday. The house has an incredible sound system which we are now replicating in our own home. The grill is so big you could cook a whole cow on it! I just cannot say enough great things about Hartwell Manor. Everyone who came said it was the best time ever. The owner was very helpful and courteous and did everything we asked to make our stay comfortable and fun.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing

Wonderful Gathering

The house was all we expected and was perfect for our family reunion! There was plenty of room for all activities and yet plenty of room for privacy. The floor plan is very unusual but we loved it. It is well maintained and had good cooking equipment. We certainly would recommend it, in fact we are renting again for next year! My only suggestion for improvement would be to bring your own bath soap. I took dishwasher and laundry detergent but I've never stayed any place that didn't have soap in the baths.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway

Knee deep in the water somewhere

A wonderful lake house. Our party of 23 was very comfortable. The house has lots of space for everyone. Out of the many houses I have rented on the lake this is by far the best. We will definitely be coming back next year for our annual lake trip. The owner is very accomendating and the house is very well cared for.
