Vacation Rental Description

  This freshly remodeled three bedroom farmhouse on Seawall Road is 
only a few steps to the Cable Crossing Road which has shore access 
to the Western Way and the Atlantic Ocean. It's a perfect place to 
launch your kayaks, search for beach glass or just sit by the water. 
  On those chilly days, warm up in front of the fire in the large 
stone fireplace, centered in the big living room. Downstairs 
includes an eat-in-kitchen, large bright living room, sitting room, 
bedroom and bathroom with a shower. Upstairs there are two bedrooms 
(one with a peek of the water) and a bathroom with a large claw foot 
tub. Relax and enjoy the outdoors on the back deck or in the big 
back yard.  It's located conveniently only two miles from the center 
of Southwest Harbor.  

Vacation Rental Amenities

   All new appliances, washer and dryer, gas range, dishwasher, 
microwave, wireless Internet access, small TV with cable, DVD, 
stereo/CD player, barbecue grill. 
   The kitchen is fully equipped including microwave, coffee pot, 
toaster, blender, lobster pot and utensils. All linens included. 
   Note:  Cell phone reception is sketchy around Mr. Desert Island 
so just relax and they "will hear you now" over the next mountain. 
Verizon extended service does work at this house.
   Rental time is Saturday to Saturday.  Check in time is 3 p.m. and 
check out time is 10 a.m.
   

Activities and Attractions

   Mount Desert Island is dotted with cozy harbors filled with 
working lobster boats, cruising boats and racing one designs. It is 
the home of the magnificent Acadia National Park and you are within 
a half hour drive from the house to the main park entrance, 
including a trip up Cadillac Mountain. Within a five minute drive 
are two great hikes on the "Quiet Side" part of Acadia National 
Park. Southwest Harbor is also the home of the world renowned 
Hinckley Yachts and several other smaller independent boat building 
companies.    
   Charter a boat for the day or an afternoon on a Friendship sloop. 
Take the mailboat to the Cranberry Islands or Islesford for a bike 
ride or a picnic. Take a nature cruise and spot a harbor seal, 
osprey, herring gull or maybe even an eagle.  Sail the sunset on a 
schooner or take a ride up the fjord in Somes Sound. 
   The free Island Explorer bus gives you access to all the popular 
places around the island such as the Bass Harbor Lighthouse and 
quaint little villages and harbors.  Rent kayaks and canoes to 
explore the waters of the Western Way and the ocean or the nearby 
lakes and harbors. The island boasts 40 miles of gently sloped, 
gravel carriage trails and numerous hiking trails for all levels of 
experience. 
   Visit the charming shops, galleries, bookstores, the Lilac Lily 
yarn shop and other boutiques in Southwest Harbor. Try a cup of 
lobster stew, clam chowder, popovers or pick your own lobster right 
out of the tank in any one of many local restaurants that offer both 
casual and fine dining. 
   Enjoy the restaurants, galleries, shops, microbreweries, live 
music and night life in popular nearby Bar Harbor.  Whale watching 
cruises and the boat to Nova Scotia leave from Bar Harbor. 
   You are surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Acadia National 
Park that winds its way in and around Mount Desert Island. Island 
trails wind through the the mountains and forests of birch, spruce 
and maple trees. A panorama of ocean, forest, harbors and the rugged 
Maine coast greets you at every turn. The island is a place for 
those adventurous at heart or for those who just want to relax and 
enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It is also a place just to put 
your feet up, read a book and enjoy the fresh clean air.

Weekly Deposit $250; monthly deposit is $500.  
Deposit due with reservation.  Weekly rent payable 30 days prior to 
arrival. Monthly rent payable in two installments. Call for details. 
Cleaning included unless excessive cleaning required. 
Available for winter rental.
