Vacation Rental Description

    Charming and updated 1-2 bedroom cottage on the Chesapeake Bay,  
barely 10 miles from historic Cape Charles with its new & amazing  
Nicholas/Palmer Golf Courses. Only 17 miles from the Chesapeake Bay  
Bridge Tunnel, so convenient to Virginia Beach and yet a world  
away.  Smith Beach is a unique, private family community with sandy  
beach and a community boat ramp and dock just steps from the purple  
cottage.  Enjoy fishing, hiking, swimming, and just plain RELAXING-- 
what a splendid idea!!  Do NOTHING for a real change of pace. A 3  
mile car ride takes you to fine dining at the Eastville Inn.  A  
pleasant 30-40 minute ride north will bring you to Onancock with its  
many art galleries, cultural events, and restaurants.  A bit further  
north, find the famous Chincoteague ponies of Chincoteague and  
Assateague Islands.  
   The Purple cottage is comfy but not large.  The 2 bedrooms are  
divided only by an accordion door, so the Purple cottage can  
accomodate a couple with a young child or 2 (kids on folding cots in  
2nd BR).  The LR sofa is a futon which can be used as a bed for VERY  
short term guests, say one overnight. 
  We have a BIG cottage which comfortably accomodates more guests,  
the Peach cottage!!  Inquire. 
 

Vacation Rental Amenities

   The purple cottage has air conditioning + ceiling fans in  
addition to the usual Chesapeake Bay breezes.  There is an outside  
shower for your use when returning from the beach, boating, or jet- 
skiing.  The kitchen is freshly updated with ceramic cooktop range,   
microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator with icemaker.  A gas grill  
is provided on the back deck for your grilling pleasure. All kitchen  
items are included as are linens. Bring your beach towels. Washer &  
dryer. TV, VCR, DVD. Phone landline with local service included.  
Bring your calling card for long distance calls. 

Activities and Attractions

    Boating of all types abounds.  Trailer your own boat or jet-ski,  
wave runner, or load your kayaks on top of your car, and they will  
see a lot of use at Smith Beach.  The community boat ramp (steps  
from the cottage) is at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and a creek  
area know as "The Gulf."  So there is quiet water for novice and/or  
young kayakers/canoers.  The fishing is unsurpassed!!  Kiptopeke  
State Park is nearby for hiking, nature walks, birdwatching, etc.   
Shop and enjoy the casual to elegant dining options in nearby Cape  
Charles (10 miles south) or Onancock (30 miles north).  Visit  
Chincoteague Island's (50 miles north) famous ponies and go on the  
nature walk and enjoy Chincoteague's abundance of tourist/souvenir  
shops and restaurants.  As the eastern shore peninsula area is only  
10 miles across & is between the Chesapeake and the ocean, the area  
is easily explored by car & scenic water/nature vistas are  
everywhere apparent.  You will never run out of things to do during  
an entire season's stay, let alone if you can only visit for a week  
or two!! 
    If golf is your passion, you will love the new Nicklaus and  
Palmer courses at Bay Creek, Cape Charles.

Vacation Rental Rates

Rates are: 
  Winter (November thru April/May), 2008-09, $700 per month +  
utilities (gas heat, electric). Land line telephone, local service  
is provided by landlord; antenna TV provided. (cable available, self- 
pay).  1 1/2 months security, CC.  No pets; No smoking. Convenient  
to Shore Memorial Hospital, Cape Charles, VA Bch. 
  Summer 2008, April thru November, $750 per week, all inclusive.   
$600 refundable security (w/i 1 week of departure on satisfactory  
condition of premises.  TV & land phone included.
