Our “Finger Lakes Hideaway” is a lake house in Conesus, NY and began
as a search for a relaxing get-away where we could enjoy the company
of family and friends, beautiful views, an active outdoor lifestyle
and our love of the water. We have found all of that and more in the
enchanting Finger Lakes region of western New York. World-renowned
for its production of award-winning wines, this natural wonderland
offers one of the most visually stunning and peaceful getaways in
the United States. My wife and I visited numerous lakes in the
Eastern United States and Canada on trips over a ten year period
before we found the Finger Lakes and Lake Conesus. This home has
been a great gathering place and exceeded our expectations.
Lake Conesus is the western most Finger Lake, and although it is
about 8 miles long, as one of the smaller lakes in the group, it is
characterized by an intimate, peaceful atmosphere. Year round, the
large windows on the lake side of the house offer picturesque views
of the water and the wooded rolling hills beyond. Our large (600 sq
ft.) ground level deck with wrap-around seating is the perfect spot
for lounging in the sun, reading in the shade, or al fresco dinners
on warm summer evenings. The property has a terraced area on the
lake front that is perfect for sunbathing. There are several large
trees on the property that provide cover when you desire being in
the shade.
Our 4 bedroom 3 bath house can comfortably sleep 11 people. The
lower level of the house has a large eat-in kitchen (new), a living
room with a fireplace, a laundry room with additional shower, and a
powder room. The upper level has a master bedroom/bath, 3 additional
bedrooms, two with bunk beds, a full bath, and another sitting area,
all furnished in classic Americana style. Outside, in addition to
the deck there is a large covered bar and grill area with a picnic
table. The dock extends 70ft into the lake (where the water is about
six feet deep) and is removed during the winter months. There are
two lifts, one for a boat and the other for a jet ski, which can be
made available for your own personal water toys.

activities and attractions in Conesus Lake Finger Lakes
The lake itself provides endless options for fun in and around the
water including swimming, canoeing, water skiing, boating, and
fishing. We were attracted to Lake Conesus in part because we love
water sports and it has warmer water than most of the other Finger
Lakes. It is about 70 feet deep at its deepest point compared to
about 260 feet for Canandaigua Lake which makes Conesus about 5
degrees warmer in the summer. Fishing in the lake is very good.
The lake has Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Northern Pike,
Pickerel, Tiger Musky, Walleye, Carp and pan fish.
The region around the lake abounds with many other possibilities for
family adventures such as hiking, camping, hunting (in-season),
horse-backing riding, rafting, visiting wineries and
regional history museums, as well as the many local fairs and
festivals that you can find in the surrounding villages. There are
also two nearby state parks, Letchworth State Park (which is famous
for its breath-taking canyon, referred to as the “grand canyon of
the east”) and Stony Brook State park, where you can find many ways
to spend countless hours in the great outdoors.
In the city of Rochester, about a 30 minute drive away, you will
find great restaurants, museums, nightlife and shopping. Niagara
Falls is also a fun day trip, it’s a about a 2 hour scenic drive
from the lake house. In addition to the majestic waterfalls, we
also suggest visiting the quaint village of Niagara on the Lake for
some more sightseeing.
