Experience evenings in front of the fire and sunny days on the deck of this new and modern home.  Great views of the mountains and wild life from every window in a beautiful and remote setting. Just 20 miles to Durango, 15 miles to Bayfield and 45 miles to Mesa Verde and Pagosa Springs. 

Nature and wildlife abound around in this comfortable and welcoming vacation home. A gorgeous great room surrounds a stunning stone fireplace with double sets of French doors leading to a lovely deck (12 x 30) overlooking the San Juan mountains and views of Lake Vallecito. Take a drive to Trimble Springs or Pagosa Springs for a soothing soak in the local hot springs.


A fabulous and modern kitchen is equipped with new appliances and is fully stocked with ample cookware, glassware and silverware plus cooking supplies and paper goods. There are two new super comfortable king size beds on the main floor, one in the master bedroom suite, the second in the guest bedroom. A spacious loft with a queen bed, a comfy queen futon and a full bath is ready for your late night stories.

Nightly rates based on the number of guests, minimum rate based on 2 guests, maximum rate based on 8 guests.  Please call or email for more info, availability and a firm quote. There is a 3 night minimum stay.  Sales Tax of 6.8% is charged on the nightly rental fee only.  In addition, there is a one-time supplies & cleaning fee of $140 and a $300 refundable damage deposit.  For Pets a $100 additional pet deposit and an additional $50 cleaning fee will be applicable.

Beautiful, comfortable, new lake home

My family rented this property for a week in June 2011. We enjoyed our stay very much. The property is new, clean and well stocked with all the essentials and a lot of extras too. We used the kitchen often and I always found what I needed. I would definitely recommend this property to all my friends and family. We really like the Durango area and plan to visit a lot more in the years to come. I will always try to rent this house first before I look elsewhere. When I read the review from 'Lakerdude33', I could not believe he was refering to the same house where we stayed. Our stay was in the summer, so I can't comment on what parking is like in the winter, but all the other comments are definitely false!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

a delightful dose of Colorado mountains

I notice in the previous review that the party who stayed in February complained of flies. Did they have the correct property? Flies are non-existent at that elevation at that time of year in Colorado. Being a fifth-generation native of Colorado, I've been to many places in the state. At Lake Vallecito, I was delighted to find what I call "old Colorado." Not only did I get that revitalizing dose of mountain surroundings, but I also found friendly, easy-going people to help me at the markets and restaurants, a wonderful lack of frenetic crowds, and a lovely place to watch the wildlife while sipping cocktails and grilling burgers. The house had all the comforts and conveniences of home and I found working with the owner very easy. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a genuine Colorado vacation.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Fly filled dump

House was full of flies, more hatched every day! The deck and stairs were covered with dog feces. The wifi was pitifully slow. The owner was out of touch with the property, and depended on locals to keep it rent-ready. No way would I stay at this dump again. The garage was unaccesable due to snow and a bad design that made it impossible to park in. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere; especially in winter. Steamworks was the highlight of the stay. A real dump of a property! Avoid it!

Owners response: This person rented in January 2009, which was 30 months ago. They left a nasty note upon departure, so this year we refused to rent to them. I am confident that these claims are false. We have a beautiful and clean home and many other satisfied guests to prove it. Our local caretakers are wonderful and take excellent care of our home. Since no complaint was made in 2009 allowing us to address these "issues" and that it took 2 1/2 years to write this nasty review says all that needs to be said. Our place is fabulous and calling it a dump is outrageous and untrue.
