ALL BED COVERS/CURTAINS, BEDROOM FURNITURE AND REFRIGERATOR
Summer Villa is also Pet Friendly (dogs only).
This comfortable 5 bedroom, 3 bath home is fully equipped for the
comfort and convenience of it's guests. High speed wireless
internet, multiple TV's/DVD/VCR's, a large Jacuzzi tub, wood burning
fireplace, stereo with CD player and poolside sound system are just a
few of the amenities provided. The Great Room, with cathedral
ceiling, has plenty of room for your whole family to enjoy, along

Nice home but broken and unsanitary

First, let us say that our dealings with the Home Owner were pleasant & we found the home to be lovely & decorated well, but we found alot of matters that need attention immediately to bring the house back up to where it needs to be. Here is a list:

No Propane in Gas Grill (preventing us not being able to grill or cook the first night)
Grill not clean-Kitchen not clean-Table Sticky-Floors had debris & dead bugs
Grease Mounds on the deck-Screens Doors were Broken-Screens were ripped-Lifted Nails on Deck-Stained Vomited on Covers-Major Mold in Bathroom Vents & Shower Curtains-Nose Hair in Faucet-Clogged drain in Master Bathroom-All Frying Pans surfaces where the teflon was either gone or severely peeling--Paint Peeling on decks and in Pool Area--Broken Glass & Shells on Pool Deck--Ants in kitchen-Broken Door on end table-Missing Batteries for remote controls-Cable went in and out also had poor reception-Only one beach chair but it was rusty-Hot Tub Steps boards were loose-burnt light bulbs in bathroom & pool deck and pool-Swinging chair was broken-Air Conditioning Air Filters were caked with dust. They appeared to not have been changed in over a year maybe two.

The next day we called to complain. First Maint Worker came and brought us a Propane Tank, Frying Pans & broom. A second crew came in to replace the air filters. A third crew came in on the third day to sweep outside areas.

We feel that the house needs a number of repairs & lots of cleaning. We felt the cleaning crew did not perform well before and after they were called in. It's important to note that we understand that this is a Beach House. We dont expect it to be Hospital Sanitary or even our own home clean. But we also didnt expect to find Vomit, Mold, Crickets, Bottles, Cigarettes butts and spent our time cleaning. We will be sending pictures of many of these issues to the owner so they can see how their home is not be cleaned and maintained. We would not recommend this home until it has been repaired and cleaned.

Owners response: Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at the house. Since you arrived within days of a major hurricane, I can assure you the screens and porch swing were damaged in the storm. At a time like that the maintaintence people were working hard to get all the houses in the area 'liveable' and things like a swing, out of necessity were secondary. They are in the process of being fixed now.
The propane tank must have been emptied by a prior guest and they did not report it. Likewise with the kitchen utensils-thank you for bringing it to our attention as they get worn as the season goes on-without knowledge or someone reporting it there is no way to know. I'm glad you got a new tank/kitchen pans in a timely fashion.
I also cannot know when beach chairs or other items go missing through the season. Unfortunately some people are not as careful with such items as I could hope. Thank you for letting me know. I asked the management company to inventory the back storage place for pool/beach equipment. With their report, I am now in the process of getting new chairs and also a new bike to replace the ones that were there at the start of the season and were no longer in place.
I was told all light bulbs/batteries were replaced and the hot tub step tightened while you were staying.
As for the cleanliness-you are absolutely right. I am appalled by the lack of cleanliness of my home as you described it. I spend many hours and much energy on decorating/upkeep and amenities during the off season to make my renters stay in season as comfortable as possible. I expect higher standards by far to upkeep the sanitary nature of the home. I have not had this issue before. I am in the process of putting an inspection type visit each week on turn over day to ensure everyone tasked with cleaning and upkeep of the home for me are doing their job. I trust this will negate the recurrance of your experience in the future.
