Ready For A Change Of Pace? When you tell your friends you are staying
on the water, you'll really mean it!
This charming 1BR/1BA floating home is in a private marina in the Coco
Plum Beach area. The first level has a full kitchen (with
refrigerator, range and microwave), the living/dining area and a
residential style bath with tub/shower combination. The bedroom, with
a sundeck, is on the second story and is accessed by ladder style
stairs (you must be nimble). Guests will be able to dock their boat to
the bow of the Houseboat (21' or less and subject to owner approval).
No washer or dryer but laundromat or drop off service is available in
town. Limited parking, only one vehicle. Trailer storage available
nearby, free of charge.
Never been on a houseboat?
They are great and more than likely not something your friends have
ever done. There are some differences though. The boat is a barge
style which means it has a flat bottom. It is very stable and in a
protected location but will naturally shift or slide around slightly.
If the wind picks up it may even rock a little. If you are highly
sensative to movement in cars or boats this might not be the best
choice for you. Most people get used to it right away.
The boat is not the type that leaves the dock. It is permanently
moored and hooked up to shoreside services. You may bring your own
boat or rent a boat in town and tie it to the bow of the houseboat
(the great thing about this is that the boats go up and down together
with the tide!).
The Marina is located in a working community. Across the canal is a
working boat repair and in/out storage marina (daytime operation only
and most guests have found it of entertainment interest). There is
also a party boat that may run night trips, depending on the time of year.
The Houseboat is docked behind an office building that is occupied
during the day but is not open to the public. At times you may see a
lot of official looking people around with badges but it makes for a
very secure location!
So, if you're ready for something different this might be just the answer.

Marathon and the Middle Keys offers shops and services including two grocery stores, Publix and Winn Dixie, 2 drug stores, CVS and Walgreen’s, a KMART and many other shops, bait and tackle stores, gifts shops and a wide selection of restaurants all within a few miles drive.
Like beaches? Sombrero Beach is located at Mile Marker 51 only a few miles drive from anywhere in the Middle Keys as is Coco Plum Beach. Bahia Honda State Park is about a 20 minute drive south.

Other attractions: The Dolphin Research Center is located on Grassy Key and is always a fun spot to stop in for their tours or schedule a swim with the dolphin. The Natural History Museum at Crane Point  provides a look at Keys history, sea life, touch tanks for kids and nature walks through the Hammock (also a great gift store).
Key West is a great day trip and about 1.25 hours south.

Boat rental companies are available in the Middle Keys and most of them will let you keep the boat at your dock for the week (some will even deliver and pick up the boat!).

$500.00 reservation/security deposit/$25.00 booking fee

Normal cleaning is included. Must be left neat, tidy, picked up with
everything in it's place.
