Vacation Rental Description

Red Creek Cottage is an immaculate and cozy three-bedroom, two-story
cottage on the western shore of Seneca Lake 13 miles north of
Watkins Glen, 22 miles south of Geneva, and 13 miles east of
neighboring Keuka Lake.

With 200 feet of lake frontage, a streambed with a drawbridge, and a
couple acres of woods behind us, our cottage is the perfect retreat
where you can feel surrounded by nature and truly relax with family
and friends.

We have a large sunny yard where you can sit back with a book or a
glass of wine from one of the wineries down the road; a large shale
beach (shale is smooth, flat rocks of various sizes), an outdoor
dining table w/ umbrella seating 6, a large picnic table seating 8,
many lounge chairs, gas barbeque grill, fire pit, 12' wooden rowboat,
two canoes, fishing gear, life jackets, a badminton and volleyball
set, ping pong table, swing, and other recreational equipment. The
water is shallow a long way out (great for young children), with
deeper water, too, for older kids and adults.

If you don't want to lie in the sun, you can relax in the shade of
the yard's mature trees (a large willow, maples, firs, birches, a
redbud). There are usually no mosquitoes because of the breeze and
the
purple martins.

Please see the "Amenities" section for a complete list of our indoor
amenities.

Pets: We welcome well-behaved dogs. Please check with us. ($25 fee
nightly/$150 weekly.) No cats (the owners are allergic). Other
pets may OK with permission.

Available for weekly rentals during the summer and early fall, the
cottage is also fully winterized and available for long or short
rentals at a reduced rate in late fall, winter and spring. Each
season on the lake has its own charm.

Vacation Rental Amenities

Activities and Attractions

Red Creek Cottage lies on the shore of Seneca Lake in Yates County,
a picturesque rural area full of farms and vineyards, antique shops,
and quiet country roads perfect for biking. It is 13 miles north of
Watkins Glen and 22 miles south of Geneva.

Watkins Glen, a small but busy town on the southern tip of Seneca
Lake, is full of attractions like

the waterfalls, hiking path and pool at Watkins Glen State Park,

The Farm Sanctuary,
the Watkins Glen International Raceway, and
the Watkins Glen Golf Course.

Go for a 39-mile bike or driving tour of the area immediately near
the cottage (Dundee, Himrod and Dresden). Check our web site for a
map.

Go for a cruise on the vintage schooner yacht "Malabar X."

Go fishing, kayaking, or hiking on your own or hire a guide through
Summit to Stream Adventures, a few miles south.

Boating:

A public launch is located 10 minutes north of the cottage at
Severne Point on Severne Point Road, off Route 14, 8 miles south of
Dresden. Hard surface ramp; parking for 12 cars and trailers. Good
winter launch site. Operated by the DEC.

You can also launch your boat at Glen Harbor Marina in Watkins Glen
and at the Watkins Glen village launch site located off Route 414 on
the canal portion of Catherine Creek. Hard surface ramps; parking
for approximately 60 cars with trailers; fee.

Reagan's Canoe & Kayak Livery Rentals is located 3 miles north
of the cottage. They will pick up and deliver.

Dining:

We enjoy a number of restaurants within 15 minutes of the cottage,
including:

Lakemont Deli & Creamery
Lakemont (5 minutes south of the cottage, in the old Wixons' honey
stand). Ice cream, local honey products, and deli food including
wonderful paninis. A couple of tables inside and picnic tables
outside for an informal breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Veraisons Restaurant at Glenora Wine Cellars (5 minutes south of the
cottage)

The Decoy
Rock Stream (between the cottage and Watkins Glen)
Nice American fare in a slightly more formal, non-child-friendly
atmosphere. One of the closest restaurants to the cottage.

Bianco's Italian Restaurante
Watkins Glen
Good for school-aged and older kids.

House of Hong (Chinese)
Watkins Glen
Good, and nice for dining in. Quiet but child-friendly

Jerlando's Pizza Company (take-out only)
Watkins Glen

Tobes Donut and Bakery
Watkins Glen
Yum, and child-friendly

Wildflower Cafe
Watkins Glen
Unusual sandwiches and vegetarian fare; good for older kids; nice
atmosphere but leasurely service.

Savard's Family Restaurant
Watkins Glen, NY
Not the fanciest food around, but it's reliable diner fare with
friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere.

Holly's Red Rooster
Penn Yan
Our favorite restaurant in Penn Yan, 20 minutes from the cottage.
Should be family-friendly, but we haven't eaten there with
children. Good American fare.
