vacation rental description

Come stay on the Private Side of Lake Anna in this well appointed lake-access country home on 5 wooded acres with waterfront boat house. Take a five minute stroll (500 yards) or short drive to our community's low-traffic cove on Lake Anna where you'll find your very own private boat house with parking for 2 vehicles. Enjoy the boat house's screened porch and large vinyl-decked swim platform w/ladder (no splinters); have a campfire down on the 50x50 waterfront parcel where we have a fire ring w/grill. Our community has only 13 homes, all on one or more acres, making for a very private and peaceful experience.  Take a short cruise in the sit-on-top kayak, the big green canoe, or the two-seater paddle boat (life jackets included) provided with the rental and keep watch for American Eagles that frequent the area.  The private side of Lake Anna has less boat traffic because there are no public parks or marinas and our cove is great for swimming for that reason.

This cozy home has a beautiful great room with cathedral ceiling, hardwood floors, ceiling fan and wood burning fireplace. An adjacent dining area is equipped with a table for seating eight or more. A counter/bar between the dining area and kitchen seats three and is great for extra dinner seating or for supervising the chef while watching TV/DVD/BluRay (Satellite TV). The kitchen is fully equipped and has a double sink, frig with icemaker & filtered water, dishwasher, microwave, range/oven, toaster oven, blender and other kitchen necessities. The home has 2 bedrooms (queen size bed in each), 2 full baths, and a full basement, but sleeps 8 with the pull-out couch (queen size) in the great room and two futons in the basement. In the basement you'll find a ping-pong table, fuseball, tv/vcr/dvd (satellite TV), keyboard, kids toys (Barbies, etc.), and a washer and dryer.

The 5 wooded acres surrounding the house make for a serene setting. Mom can relax in the hammock while dad plays with the kids on the custom fort/swing with climbing wall and rope swing. Later, have a bonfire in the large fire pit.  There is a cute front porch for enjoying that morning coffee and watching the blue birds sing "good morning" and a large back deck with a weber gas grill and old weber charcoal grill for making that perfect lunch or dinner.  Enjoy midnight star-gazing that you'll never experience in the city or suburbs.

Located in a private community.

Recommendation Letters:

Email #1:
Tom, Just wanted to send you an email to tell you and your wife what a
lovely time we had at your house. It was one of our best vacations. We
have been renting a vacation home for a week each summer for the past
seven years. Yours is the best! The house and the boathouse were very
comfortable and very well stocked. We had the entire cove to ourselves
until late on Thursday. My son and two nephews and one niece really
enjoyed the kayaks. The canoe was a little "tippy" for us to manuever
well. My husband and my niece were able to take the canoe out fishing
for awhile. We played games, ping pong, a little foosball and enjoyed
each others company. The boathouse was awesome and I think the best
one in the cove. The screened-in area was great to get out of the sun
and my mother really enjoyed being there (she doesn't like the sun).
The kids fished and swam and had a blast. We bought a set of
horseshoes to play for the week and left them for your family and your
future guests, as well as some additional ping pong balls and
styrofoam coolers. We also bought a "bucket" with a thick rope handle
to use at the boathouse. It doubles as a pail and as a trash can
during the day. We made sure to bring the trash up each day when we
left. Didn't want any racoons or bears keeping us company. We rented a
boat for two days to go tubing and tried the kneeboard. (Getting the
boat was a whole amusing story. Doug from Lake Anna rentals). All in
all, there is something to do for everyone and everyone can do what
they want and still be in the same area and enjoying what each other
is doing. Just the best. We will definately think about coming back
again, either this next summer or the year after. Thank you so much
for providing such a great place. We hope you and your family enjoy a
happy and healthy summer. God bless.

Email # 2:
Thomas, just a note to say thanks for your rental. We were there the
week of July 13 and loved it. Our boys said it was the second best
vacation (to Disney). The set-up was great, and if we go back to Lake
Anna (likely), we plan to keep your place in mind. We are actually
thinking of going down for winter fishing (Dec/Jan) and wanted to see
what you know of the fishing at the lake at that time of year and any
recommendations. We’d be interested in your house again, if we do
decide to do that type of trip.

traveler reviews for this lake anna house rental

Nice place to stay

Review submitted: September 8, 2010   Date of arrival: July 31, 2010

This worked out great. Enjoyed swimming and kayaking from the boat house. The beds in the 2 bedrooms where very comfortable. We had a nice bond fire that evceryone gathered around to cook hot dogs and marshmellows. The basement with all the games and TV where great the grandchildren and quest that visited us during the 3 weeks we where there. We have many great memories because this home and all it's amenities made for a perfect vacation.

First Time Visit to Lake Anna

Review submitted: June 6, 2010   Date of arrival: May 21, 2010

This was our first but not our last visit to Lake Anna. If you want to get away from the DC rat race, this place will take you there. The house was clean and very well equipped, all we needed was the food and linens. Our children loved the use of the kayaks. It was our youngest child's first time in one and she was a natural. Mr. Chadwick's recommendation to have his neighbor take us out on the lake fishing was spot on. He knew exactly where to go and as my wife said "has the patience of a saint" as he took me, my son and his friend out fishing (two 10 year old boys)and remained calm the entire time!!! They caught their fill of fish and had the time of their lives doing it. We were only able to stay for a few day so we look forward to our next visit which will definitely be much longer.
