If you're looking for a wonderfully unique as well as comfortable and functional Oceanfront home, this is it. There are lots of artistic details and not one speck of drywall.
Downstairs: 1 Bedroom (Queen bed), with the huge Ocean View, 1
Bathroom, with a tub/shower, vanity, toilet, and a large beautiful
Stained Glass Window. An open great room with Kitchen, Eating bar,
Dining Table and 6 chairs, and a comfortable vintage Rattan Living
Room set with a Couch and 2 arm chairs. Organic cotton Queen-Sized
Futon Bed that is always open and functions as an extra sleeping
space or a day bed, again with that incredible ocean view. You never
know when you might need a nap or a great place to read. The stained
glass in the front door is almost as mesmerizing as the ocean sounds.
Upstairs: Tthere are 2 Bedrooms (one King bed, one Queen bed), both
with big Ocean and Coastline View, and 1 Bathroom which is accessed
by both bedrooms. The Bath has a tub/shower and sink in one room,
and an extra room for the toilet.
The ocean is mesmerizing by day, lulling to deep sleep at night. The
Oceanside Deck with Jacuzzi and Swimming Pool just may become your
Outdoor Living Room. The neighborhood is extremely friendly and
you can walk or ride Bikes for miles along the coast in either
direction. Or, you can hang out. You just might not want to leave.
This is the house that Jack built, in 1998. First camping out in the
would-be garage, then creating an Artistic Retreat/Bachelor Pad, and
ultimately a Great Family Home. We happily lived there, until
the workaday world moved us to the big city of Hilo.
house rental amenities
But wait, there's more: Our guests often comment that our home exceeded their expectations. It's probably because of all the local materials and the attention to detail. There are real Hardwood Floors throughout (even the
bathrooms and kitchen), 3 beautiful Stained Glass windows, Granite counter tops, Stainless Steel cooking pans and utensils, and lots of original local Artwork. There's also an Outdoor Shower, 2 beach cruiser (one speed) Aluminum Bicycles, Washer and Dryer, Propane Barbeque, Purified drinking water (by reverse osmosis), your own water well with whole house Ultra Violet Filtration system (no worries about running out of water or other problems associated with "catchment systems" that are common in our area), Solar-heated Hot Water, Private Phone Line, Wireless DSL Internet access, Computer in upstairs bedroom for your use, Dish TV, Hair Dryer, Pool Towels, Pool Toys, Soft Sheets, Thirsty Towels, some board games, many good Hawaiiana books, and more details that will probably interest you. In addition to the above items, we provide shampoo, conditioner, handsoap, laundry soap, dish and dishwasher soap, and toilet paper for your convenience.
activities and attractions in Hilo The Big Island
Or, what about whales? Winter months are excellent for hearing humpback whales at night, and of course seeing them by day. Our favorite activities are: swimming, hiking, biking, volcano viewing, hot pond soaking (or swimming if you can move that quickly) and communing with nature. The two volcano viewing locations are about 45 minutes away, in opposite directions. The National Park, home of Kilauea Caldera and the fire goddess Pele, is "up the hill" about 45 minutes. The lava entry into the ocean, at Kalapana, is about 45 minutes "down the hill". Both are very interesting and exciting. It's Accessible Nature on a Grand Scale, no trip to East Hawaii is complete without an up-close and personal volcano experience. Nature on a grand scale.
