Vacation Rental Description

If you're looking for a comfortable spacious truly Oceanfront home,
retreat, or a base of operations, this is it. This is the house that
Jack built, in 1998. First camping out in the would-be garage, then
creating an artistic retreat/bachelor pad, and ultimately a great
family home. We happily lived there, until the workaday world moved us
to the big city of Hilo. We still come back whenever we can. 

The ocean is mesmerizing by day, lulling to deep sleep at night. The
oceanside deck with spa and swimming pool will become your outdoor
living room. The neighborhood is nice and friendly and you can walk or
ride bikes for miles along the coast in either direction. Or, you can
hang out. You just might not want to leave.  

Vacation Rental Amenities

Our guests often comment that our home exceeded their expectations.
It's probably because of all the local materials and the attention
to detail. There are real hard-wood floors throughout (even the
bathrooms and kitchen), stained glass windows, granite counter tops,
and lots of original artwork. There's also an outdoor shower, two
beach cruiser bicycles, full laundry facilities, gas barbeque, gas
stove, purified (by reverse osmosis) drinking water, your own water
well with whole house ultra violet filtration system (no worries about
running out of water or other problems associated with "catchment
systems" that are common in our area), solar-heated hot water, private
phone line, Dish TV, some board games, some good Hawaiiana books, and
probably some more details that may interest you. 

Upstairs there are two bedrooms (one King bed, one Queen bed), both
with a big ocean and coastline view, and one bathroom. Downstairs
there is one bedroom (Queen bed), one bathroom, an open great room
with kitchen, eating bar, dining, and living. Or more like, living it up. 

Activities and Attractions

Winter months are excellent for hearing humpback whales at night, and
of course seeing them by day. Our favorite activities are: swimming,
hiking, biking, volcano viewing, hot pond soaking (or swimming if you
can move that quickly) and communing with nature. 

Vacation Rental Rates

Please check our online availability calendar before emailing. It's
always up to date. Thank you. Rates are $200 per night and $1200 per
week. $75 cleaning fee, and of course, State Taxes of 11.41%. 50%
deposit needed to confirm dates, balance due two weeks before arrival.
We keep our rates reasonable by charging the same for Kama`aina and
visitors alike and by not accepting credit cards. We trust you understand.
