Whetstone Cottage, a two story, three bedroom lakeside retreat,
is located on picturesque Whetstone Pond, twenty minutes south of
Moosehead Lake. The area abounds with the natural beauty of
mountains, woods, lakes, and streams. Whetstone Pond lies adjacent
to the Appalachian Trail, so hiking in the area is
legendary.
The cottage is directly on the water and has a large private dock
for sunning, swimming, boating, bird watching, or simply gazing at
the views of Russell mountain across the lake . Whetstone Pond is
the ideal swimming temperature, as well as being clean and fresh.
Stargazing is awesome!
The cottage is charmingly furnished with Maine country
antiques. The kitchen is fully equipped and there are two canoes
and two kayaks for your boating expeditions. Look for loons,beaver,
and Moose! Bring your fishing rod and find out
what real relaxation is all about!
Or: for a change of pace, take a leisurely drive to Moosehead
Lake, the largest lake in Maine. You will find the restaurants,
the shops, and the museums you may also wish to experience!

Whetstone Cottage has a cozy country kitchen with gas range and
refrigerator. There is a large, wraparound, screened-in porch for
sleeping, dining, and watching the spectacular sunsets over the
moutains! There are 3 double beds and 2 singles.(Bring your own
linens). The spacious, modern bathroom has a hot shower and flush
toilet. Two kayaks and two canoes with life vests and paddles are
provided. There is a telephone and a TV/VCR. A quaint vintage
woodstove comforts you on chilly mornings; there is also the
convenience of gas heat.

The Moosehead Lake region is a nature lover's paradise. Moose,
loons, and many types of birds abound. There is hiking all around,
including the Appalacian trail. Spectacular mountains and water
formations make this area a destination. More adventurous tourists
will try white water rafting on the Kenebec River. Other activities
include boating, swimming, biking, and antiquing. There are plenty
of restaurants, shops, and even sea plane rides 20 minutes north of
Whetstone at Moosehead Lake.

Rates are $650 a week for off season ( May, the first half of
June, the second half of September, and October.)
Peak season rates are $850 a week.(the second half of June, all
of July and August, and the first half of September.
Rental weeks begin on Saturday, no earlier than 12 noon and end
the following Saturday by 10 am.
