Treat yourself to an experience of a lifetime at Quinta Anita Vacation
Villa. For over 25 years our guests have enjoyed the Villa's
breathtaking views and romantic ambiance.
Located on top of the hill, overlooking the heart of Puerto Vallarta,
the Villa offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the
mountain jungles behind. It was built entirely by hand in the
traditional style typical of the villas built when Puerto Vallarta was
first discovered as a vacation paradise.
The Villa offers two bedroom suites. The Master Suite is outfitted
with a king size bed. The Garden Suite has 2 queen size beds. Each
bedroom has its own bathroom. The Master Suite overlooks the Pacific
Ocean, the Garden Suite has wrought iron doors that open to a lush
tropical garden with a fountain. The Villa has a fully equipped
kitchen, a large dining area, a spacious living room, a shaded patio
courtyard and a rooftop sundeck. We offer our home with complete daily
housekeeping.
There is about a 100 yard climb to the Villa via a combination of
cement walkway and cobblestone steps from where your taxi will let you
off. This is great for walking off tacos and margaritas but not
appropriate for people with walking disabilities. It takes about 5
minutes to walk from the Villa down into the heart of town, and
another 10 minutes to white sandy beaches.
No Smokers Please.
villa rental amenities
Quinta Anita Caretakers:
Our caretaker is Chayo Yerena. You may turn to her with any questions
you have or help you may need while staying in our home. She and her
family live directly below Quinta Anita. Chayo will do the
housekeeping daily. Gardening and other maintenance type jobs will be
performed as needed. Chayo is happy to accommodate your every need.
Housekeeping:
Housekeeping chores are done daily. Our housekeeper will respect your
privacy. If she hears movement in the Villa and knows you are awake
she will arrive at 11:00 AM and stay for about 2 hours. (Otherwise,
she will wait until she hears you and is sure you are not sleeping in
after a late night out.) Her chores are to clean the kitchen. This
includes washing all dishes that have been used. She will clean the
bathrooms and change the towels daily. She will also sweep the entire
house and mop. She will make the beds daily and change the sheets of
all the beds once a week or as requested. She will also attend to any
gardening chores. These are her daily chores which we pay her to
perform whether the Villa is being occupied or not. We ask that you
not change her routine. After the villa is cleaned, if you are away,
she will close all the curtains facing the ocean and lock up the
house. She closes the curtains so that the sun will not heat up the
house and bleach the furnishings.
If you are at home in the afternoon you may want to close the curtains
during the hottest part of the day. It really helps to keep the house
a pleasant temperature.
All of the glass lanterns hanging in the entry, living room, and
dining room are decorative and therefore not used for light.
Telephone Service to Guests of the Villa:
We recommend our guests bring and use their cell phones if they have
one. Should you not have a cell phone and need to use a telephone
while in Puerto Vallarta, you must go into town and use the public
telephones located around town. You may inquire at any of the local
hotels or shops. They will inform you as to the location of public
telephones.
We take our cell phones with us for emergency calls home. Our AT&T
service works perfectly from Puerto Vallarta.
We have had difficulty in the past where our housekeepers telephone
bill comes in and only a fraction of the expense has been paid in
advance by our guests. This is both unfair and a hardship for this
family. They lose their service if they are unable to pay the bill. To
get their service restored is a lengthy process and a hassle.
Therefore, we no longer allow anyone to use their telephone for any
outgoing telephone calls.
The Kitchen:
We have accumulated several appliances. All are in good working order.
Most of the pots and pans are non-stick and require special care so as
not to scratch them. We have a Coffee Maker & Microwave oven for your
convenience.
Our kitchen is fully stocked with glass wear to serve a minimum of 12
people. We are fully stocked to serve meals for 6 people.
Safe Drinking Water:
The water in the house will be filtered by our housekeeper for your
safe drinking. We have a Scandinavian system that removes all bacteria
and giardia as well. There should be a white water pitcher with
glasses located in each of the two bathrooms. This water has also been
filtered and is safe to drink.
Safety Issues:
All of the glass doors and windows when opened must be secured to the
house by chain. If you do not do this and the wind picks up it could
break one of them. (It has happened before.)
At night when you retire for the evening, all windows and doors must
be securely closed and locked from the inside. (Don’t forget to close
the kitchen windows. There are cats that will come in looking for food
if you don't). Keep the entire house closed up and locked when you are
not in the home and you will have no problems. We have newly installed
safe deposit boxes in both bedrooms. This enables you to put your
valuables away for safe keeping when ever you will be out of the room.
We have taken the precaution of keeping our valuables locked up when
we leave the house open and take a nap or go upstairs to the sun deck.
There are always poorer people than us looking to get a little ahead
and some of these people like to take a short cut by robbing from the
rich.
During the day, be sure the house is locked up, unless Chayo is there
cleaning.
Night Time Precautions: When you go out at night, leave the balcony
lights on. The switch is located in the dining room on the wall just
to the left of the glass doors that look out onto the sea. Leave the
patio and front door lights on as well.
Comfort Tips:
When we go to bed at night we like to close all of the curtains in the
whole house. The ones that face the stairs leading up the hill
especially to give us more privacy at night. We leave the wooden doors
of our bedroom wide open and sleep under the moving fan. When it is
cool in the evening we close our doors and that maintains our bedroom
at a nice temperature. Our home is not air-conditioned at this time.
For safety reasons, we recommend that you DO NOT sleep with the glass
doors open.
Please feel free to use our mosquito nets at night. During some months
you will feel their presence more than at others.
We have a CD/cassette radio in the living room for your enjoyment. You
may wish to pack some CD's or tapes to listen to.
Jalisco is the party state and Puerto Vallartans love to party.
Sometimes they can get quite loud and go on ALL NIGHT LONG. It usually
happens once during our stay. If you close the house up tight and
sleep with the fan on medium it muffles the sound pretty well. (I
bring ear plugs, the kind used for loud sports and music events which
work perfectly.) Or you could get up and have a party of your own!
When in Mexico do as the Mexicans do.
The Suites:
The master suite is outfitted with a King size bed. The garden suite
with two Queen size beds. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The
master suite has a view of the Pacific Ocean, the garden suite has
wrought iron doors that open to a lush tropical garden with a
fountain. Each suite has a small safe to protect your valuables.
We have an oversized bath tub in each of the bathrooms. It is too
large to fill with hot or even warm water. You may enjoy a cold tub on
an especially hot day!
The Fountain:
There is a fountain in the garden. The switch for it is on the wall
facing the garden as you walk out the wrought iron entry door going
out to the stairs leading up the hill. Please feel free to keep it
running as long as you are at home. Please turn it off when ever you
go out.
The Upper Deck:
Please enjoy our upper deck. The views of the entire coastline are
fabulous from this vantage point. We have a large hammock for lazy
days of reading and napping. We especially like the romantic nights up
there sipping a glass of Brandy and hearing all the fiestas below.
Located directly over both Suites. Use the staircase by the Garden Suite.
The Library:
We have a library in the house. If you forgot to bring a book you may
find one here. If the books are signed with our name please leave them
in our library. All other books are available for you to take in the
event you start to read one and do not finish it prior to leaving.
Tropical Life:
Remember you will be in the tropics. That means there are geckos.
These are harmless little creatures that love to eat mosquitoes. (That
makes them friend not foe.) They look somewhat like a salamander and
usually hang out on the walls and ceilings of the Villa. We have also
had iguanas living in our roof from time to time. Ah, life in the tropics!
We hope you enjoy your stay in Quinta Anita Vacation Villa!
activities and attractions in Puerto Vallarta Pacific Coast
Groceries:
There are several markets for groceries in town. Gutierrez Ruizo is
one we prefer to use. It is fairly close to the house. Take the side
walk down from the left of a Casa Mago to Calle Iturbide and walk down
to Miramar. Turn left on Miramar and follow it around down into town.
(As you curve around Miramar you will see a house that has a little
bridge that connects it to another house on the other side of the
road. Up until a short time ago this was Elizabeth Taylor's house.) Go
over the bridge at the Rio Cuale (north bound traffic) and take the
first street to the right just past the bridge, 5 de Febrero. Walk
down this street to Gutierrez Ruizo Market. This is Puerto Vallarta's
equivalent to our larger grocery stores. You may want to take a taxi
home from Gutierrez Ruizo with your groceries.
Restaurants:
You will no doubt run into a variety of brochures and local Puerto
Vallarta magazines. This is the very best way to learn what
restaurants are in town and what they offer. As with any city there is
a turn over and any places I recommend could have changed hands by the
time you arrive.
Music & Dancing:
There are a couple of places where you can enjoy Mariachi music to
your hearts content. One is called El Mariachi Loco. Ask anyone for
directions, take a cab or simply let your ear guide you. Another one
we recommend is La Pachanga. Located north of town just after the
Malecon ends. Check out the local magazines for more tips on what's
currently available.
The Disco scene is alive and well in PV! They're a real blast if you
like such a thing. We haven’t been to one since the early 1980’s but I
have fond memories of some wild and crazy nights dancing to our hearts
content. Check out the local magazines for more tips on what's
currently available.
Internet Access:
If you want to check your e-mail or surf online, there is a large
variety of internet cafes in Puerto Vallarta.
Venturing out of Puerto Vallarta:
Pitillal is a very nice little town north of Puerto Vallarta that you
can reach by either taxi or bus. They usually have street markets.
They also have a wonderful little restaurant at the beginning of the
town that is very unique in that it has banyon trees that are used in
the construction. We have never eaten there but we always stop for a
cold drink. It is worth the stop just to see the place.
Bucerias is another little town to the north. You may want to rent a
car to get here although you could hire a cab or take a bus here as
well. They have a great open air market and it is right on the ocean.
There is almost always something of interest to find there.
Beaches:
About one and one half hours north of the airport in the state of
Naiyarit is a town called La Penita. It is a gorgeous drive through
dense jungles and lush green fields. Just about the time you begin to
wonder if you will ever get there you arrive. This is a sleepy town.
Just what Puerto Vallarta used to be like. There are a couple of main
streets. They all lead up to the beach. The beach here is a quiet
mostly un populated place to hang out for the day. If you don't mind
the drive (we love it) and you are in for some adventurous wandering
this is the place to go. Shopping in this town is definitely cheaper
than in Puerto Vallarta.
The following beaches are also very nice:
Punta Negra
Conchas Chinas - 10 minutes south of town can be reached by taxi.
Anclote (20 minutes north of Bucerias)
Las Amapas
Las Animas – take a bus to Boca de Tomatlan and then take a water taxi
to this private beach. Excellent sea food restaurants and very clean
bathrooms.
All of these beaches are out of town. Some you will need to hire a car
and driver to find them.
Well that about covers it. The rest is for your discovery!
