What our guest say:
Dear Jamie,
Thank you for four glorious days at your Suwannee River House. We
grew up in North Georgia where we were used to the country, the woods,
and going camping. After living in Orlando for over 20 years, we’re
starved for the same kind of experience we grew up with, and we hadn’t
found it in Florida until we discovered your wonderful home on the
river. It’s like luxury camping complete with dishwasher, washer &
dryer, satellite TV, DVD player, and high-speed internet. But that’s
definitely not the attraction. The draw is the river, the quiet,
sitting on your porch or in the Adirondack chairs and watching the
river and listening to the birds. Walks in the woods and not seeing
another person. No houses on the other side of the river and only a
couple of houses in view from yours. Sky. Water. Trees. And at
night … stars! We’d almost forgotten what the night sky really looks
like. We haven’t seen that many beautiful stars since we went to
Canada a few years ago. We left feeling rested, relaxed, recuperated,
and wondering why we put up with city life. Thank you so much. We
get all the benefits of the great outdoors without sleeping on the
ground. Your framed photos of the areas’ blue & green springs really
set the tone of your lovely home, as did the wood floors, wood trim,
and simple furniture. But it’s no run-down fishing cabin; it’s new
and it’s spic & span. What a wonderful retreat for us city folks!

Hi Jamie!
What an absolutely beautiful home on the river! The wood inside is so
warm and inviting, the decorating is lovely, the bed so comfortable,
the linens, towels, kitchenware, appliances all wonderful, and the
pictures of the springs and river placed around your home are inspiring!
This weekend is exactly what we needed to de-stress after several
really difficult months for us. We were able to seclude ourselves
among the trees along the river and let ourselves calm down just by
watching the river flow past us...as if our worries were also flowing
slowly away. I was able to quietly sit on the deck with my book..
letting the wind gently blow the pages of my book as I read, listening
to the bird calls around me, the rustle of
leaves overhead, the lapping of water at the shore if a boat came by.
It is just what we needed!
Thank you for this retreat in this secluded spot! It was also fun
being in a gated airpark where airplanes take the place of cars in the
driveway! We also felt very safe there. Paul watched movies and
cooked. I read my books!
It was perfect!!
Thanks for sharing with us.

We would like to say again, "Thank you", for allowing us to stay in
your wonderful home. Our time spent on the river was amazing. The
weather was great, except the last night, so we spent it indoors
packing. The water was still too high to swim in the springs but we
had a good time canoeing and kayaking up and down the river. Fishing
was good. David set a line up from the cabin and caught 1 - 10lb, and
a few 2 to 4 lbs. Hope the cabin didn't smell too much like fish. We
had fish for dinner Saturday night. The cabin was perfect. Very warm
and comfortable. The parking was great especially loading up Sunday
morning in the rain. Again, Thank you for a wonderful, peaceful
getaway and we didn't have to drive very far to get there.

Hi, Jamie ~
Thank you, again, for sharing your wonderful River House Retreat with
us! It was the most restorative, restful escape I have had in a very
long time! The furnishings were incredibly comfortable, and your
decorative touches all through the house showed just how much you love
the environment around you. You brought the outdoors right into the house!
I have already sent an email to my daughter and her hubby, and to my
son, to see if they can all agree on a long weekend in the future, to
meet up at your house. We brought them up with weekend camping trips
and a love for nature. Just because they're grown up doesn't mean we
can quit sharing new "discoveries" of nature's beauty --- especially
when it's paired with all the comforts we could want!
My fibromyalgia didn't let me feel flexible enough this time for a
kayak or canoe trip,
but your comfy porch (with those wonderful ceiling fans!) worked
overtime for me, as I
sat reading books.
I sat out on your dock 2 of the mornings, playing Native American
flute and loving how the sound traveled up and down the river. On
Sunday morning, a sturgeon jumped, not 15 feet away from the dock, and
once I saw that huge thing, close up, I pulled my toes out of the
water FAST!!!! It was really funny.
We enjoyed the sparkling clean house. What a treat!!!!
Thank you, again and again and again.

Jamie,
Thank you SOOOO much for the beautiful weekend at your river house. I
especially appreciate you arranging for my husband's surprise balloon
bouquet to be sitting on the dining room table as soon as we walked
in! It was wonderful & TRULY surprised him!
We had such a lovely time kayakin' and swimmin' in the river. Our kids
were timid at first because of the dark water, but once they jumped
in, we couldn't get them out! The current is very swift, but we found
a place just down from your dock that we could use to climb out of the
water. (Luckily, we brought our water shoes!) We went upstream &
jumped off the docks to float down river! How refreshing!
We got to see so many birds during our excursions. We even took the
bikes & went thru the trails where we saw a bunch of deer! It was great!
There was plenty of room in the house, and we totally felt
comfortable. It was SOOOO relaxin'!
We're already tryin' to figure out when we can come again! We hope
it's soon!
Thank you for openin' up your home. It's definitely a place to lose
yourself!
