vacation rental description

This apartment is a quiet oasis in the center of San Francisco, mere steps away from the bustle of the Haight-Ashbury district and all of its shops, restaurants and nightlife. It is one block from Golden Gate Park, and a short walk to all of the museums and attractions therein. For those wishing to explore 'the City' (as locals call it) by public transportation, there are stops for major transit lines about a block away that will get you anywhere from Ocean Beach to Fishermans Wharf, and all points in between. If you are visiting on business, a nearby bus will take you directly to the Financial District. The apartment is also very close to UCSF Medical Center, the University of San Francisco (USF) and Saint Marys Medical Center.

San Francisco is a world-class city, with something for everyone. Every neighborhood has its own particular flavor, with amazing sights and sounds around every corner. If you are coming to San Francisco, relax, enjoy, explore...and WELCOME!

The Apartment: Your idyllic hideaway from the hustle of city life looks out on the street through beautiful stained-glass windows. Entering this 1890s Victorian building up the front stairs and through a small foyer, the apartment opens to a wonderfully appointed living room, with a period mantlepiece surrounding a working fireplace. There is a formal dining room, suitable for entertaining, and a sizable fully-equipped kitchen, both with beautiful stained glass. The bedroom holds a Queen-sized bed, and has room-darkening shades for sound sleep. You will also have access to the backyard, which is perfect for morning coffee, afternoon barbeques, or simply lounging at any time during the day and planning your next adventures.

Golden Gate Park: The apartment is ideally located to explore San Francisco: a 1 block walk leads to Golden Gate Park, which includes such sights as: the Conservatory of Flowers, Academy of Sciences, M.H. de Young Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, and the Arboretum (Botanical Garden); as well as such activities as: a children-only playground, archery, biking and skating, golf, horseback riding, lawn bowling, tennis, fly-fishing, and plenty of spots for a wonderful picnic. The park is larger than New York's Central Park, and is covered with more than one million trees and contains its own herd of bison.

Transportation: A car is not necessary with this very centrally located apartment. If you tire of walking, taxicabs are plentiful, and San Francisco’s public transportation system is easy and intuitive. Having a bus stop one block away from the flat makes travel to Ocean Beach, shopping downtown at boutiques or the mall, the Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf, etc. a snap. If you're coming for business or a convention, there is direct bus service to Downtown one block away. Finally, if you do bring a car there is permitted street parking, but also some sections where you may leave a car parked for a full week without a permit.

Perfect Experience

Review submitted: November 1, 2012   Date of arrival: October 26, 2012

The most gracious host was away on international travel when we arrived, but made sure everything was perfectly arranged. A detailed description on how to get the keys, a welcome basket, a well documented description of what was available in the immediate area.
The apartment itself is a jewel with real antiques and a beautiful fireplace.
All in all, my wife and I couldn't have gotten a better place to stay.
Thanks, and: see you soon!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

A great stay!

Review submitted: September 21, 2012   Date of arrival: September 8, 2012

Me and my boyfriend could not have been happier with this rental. It is truly in the heart of Haight/Ashbury. The living room w/fireplace was very cozy on the cold San Francisco nights and the bed was very comfortable to sleep in. It was spacious and very well kept, everything about the apartment was just wonderful. We appreciated that the refrigerator had water, pop, and wine in it and there was a gift basket of snacks on the counter for us upon arrival. The wifi was a great bonus feature. The only inconvenience was parking. The immediate area is marked for residents but there were an ample amount of parking meters around the corner which are $2/hr, 1 hr limit, but free from 7p-9a (which we found out by trial and error, not very well marked). We will definitely stay here again next time we come to San Francisco and would recommend it to our friends and family.
