* Welcome to SummerWind on the pristine "Alligator Harbor Aquatic Preserve." Do you prefer a serene and natural surrounding without traffic and crowds ? Come on down to our 8 miles of gulf coast beaches and white -powder sand. Locals call this area the "undiscovered " Florida . We offer our guests a great vacation value with NO extra fees for housekeeping or a small to medium size pet.

* SummerWind is located bayfront and 3 minutes to the gulf, across from the 5000 acre "Bald Point State Park." This vacation home has two to three bedrooms .The large master bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has a twin over full bunkbed . The enclosed sunporch has an additional trundle bed which can be opened to a king bed. This sunroom may be closed off entirely by privacy curtains allowing for a third additional bedroom . The scenic view of the harbor from the sunroom,dining room and the living room makes a perfect spot to relax and enjoy native seabirds soaring over the bay and diving for fish.

*SummerWind has a private dock right on the bay. The gulf beaches are 1/2 mile down the road. You can bike there or take the car and be back home in 3 minutes.

*Our private and peaceful back yard dock has a gorgeous panoramic view. Watch for Mullet fish jumping straight out of the water and Pelicans ,Blue Heron, Bald Eagles and Snowy Egrit soaring overhead.

* Past guests have remarked that the double hammock on our huge breezy screen porch is their favorite way to unwind.

*This beautifully furnished home with it's open floor plan has everything you need for the perfect retreat for couples, families and "snow birds" looking for an uncrowded getaway. Visit our nearby towns of Sopchoppy and Panacea for a delicious local seafood dinner. Florida State University in Tallahassee is a 45 minute drive north. Alligator Point Yacht Basin is a full service marina located at the end of Alligator Drive. Bring your boat and launch it from there or you can use two other launch sights even closer to the property. We have a huge homemade guidebook at the house filled with helpful ideas and coastal activies, local maps, golf courses, fishing info, restaurant menus and local churches as well as unique antique shopping locations. This guide is to provide our guests with many options to suit individual tastes. Our guest book is filled with lovely comments from visitors from all over the world. Each hand written entry is unique and special.

* SummerWind's rates are a great value! Cleaning services are included in the rate provided there is no damage to the property and / or grounds. We do not charge extra for your pet.

Low key and restful

Very comfortable and relaxing stay. We searched for lunch picnic spots, and the best we found was on the deck of the house. Birds, white squirrels, and scenic view, sunrise to sunset. During Summer, don't expect the blazing sunsets as shown in the photos. House faces southwest, so that's a Fall-Spring happening.

The square table has replaced the round one on the deck. The house was very clean and neat, except for the screen room. Granted, it's a semi-outdoor room, but still needs to be cleaner than what we found; plus, the rug is filthy and needs to be trashed. Nice room during rain. Kitchen well equipped, but you might want to take an electric skillet. Ours was quite handy for preparing the two best dinners we ate..... fresh red snapper and shrimp for MY WAY fish house. Don't miss it. Only problem with kitchen was glassware, dishes, not cleaned by previous renters.

The canal is scenic, but not practical for boating, fishing, etc., and DON'T try to wade in it. A 3ft. limb disappeared as I pushed down on it.

Eating...hit all the Panacea spots, except Angelo's. Warning: if you don't like your seafood fried, you're in the wrong spot. For a break, Saladino's makes good subs. Panacea has Bit Top market with limited selection. Closest full supermarket is IGA in Carabella.

The only negative was lack of communication with the rental firm. Three unanswered e-mails, two Sat. phone calls to a recorder..in a RE firm, on a Sat.???

Once there, it was delightful. There are two public accesses to Bald Point State Park, and miles of uncrowded beach. Fishing, flats and surf, was only fair.

Recommended for: age 55+, pet-friendly, romantic getaway

Great Location

We had a great week. We awoke each morning to the family of white squirrels playing in the tree next to the house and the birds diving for fish in the bay behind the house. During the days, we spent time at Bald Point State Park kayaking in the tidal marshes or other scenic rivers nearby. Fishing on the piers in Panacea and eating seafood, cooking at home or in the resturants in Panacea. Each evening the sunsets over the bay were fabulous and varied every day. Occasionally at high tide, we could view an alligator swimming in the tidal marsh behind the house. Everything we needed was there and this was one of the best weeks we have had.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway
