La Esmeralda in Marathon

100 Year old wood farmhouse beautifully restored. Two bedrooms, one
bath with clawfoot tub with shower. Furnished with comfortable
vintage and new modern furniture, original art, books, CD library and
player, and a small film library for the 36 inch LCD TV/DVD player.

The house sits on an acre of land with beautiful mountain and ranch
views. The little town of Marathon is surrounded by the Glass
Mountains. You can walk to town and the historic Gage Hotel for a
great dinner. It's about a 45 minute drive to Big Bend National
Park, the art scene in Marfa, or the Davis Mountains and the McDonald
observatory.

The house has a large eat in kitchen, two bedrooms with comfy queensize
beds. La Esmeralda has stone BBQ and firepit, outdoor shower, with a big screened in porch for dining
or napping on the glider. This is not a house for young children, natural landscaping
with lots of cactus and stickers.

Central A/C and heat, linens,washer/dryer, 36-inch LCD TV/DVD player
with film library,reference books, magazines, cd's and player,
outdoor fire pit,rock BBQ and outdoor shower. No telephone or cable;
only Cingular works in Marathon and Verizon connection in
Marfa/Alpine. Marathon Coffee Shop and Marathon Public Library have
internet access. Beautiful sunrise and sunset mountain views, great
stargazing, quiet and very relaxing.

Marathon, population 500, is located within a 45-minute drive
to Big Bend National Park for hiking, rafting, birding,etc. Marfa, an
hour away,is home to the worldclass art of Donald Judd, Dan Flavin,
etc; the Chinati Foundation and numerous galleries and the Marfa
lights. The Davis Mountains has the McDonald Observatory and
beautiful mountain drives.

It's a short walk from the house to Marathon's commercial three
blocks, including the Gage Hotel and it's Cafe Cenizo & White Buffalo
Bar, Marathon Coffee Shop, Cottonwood Station Restaurant,Oasis
Restaurant,and Shirley's Burnt Biscuit Bakery. Marathon has a great
little bookstore where you can get the Sunday New York Times, a small
grocery store, The French Grocer and a few good shops and galleries.

Two-night minimum. $250.00 a night $1750.00 a week. Monthly rates
upon request. $60 cleaning fee and $500.00 refundable deposit check
if no damage or missing items. 50% of reservation due at booking with
deposit check separate. Balance and cleaning fee due 14 days before
