Lake Anna State Park: 10-15 minutes. Public beach in

Orange: Downtown Orange has some quaint antique shops and
is an enjoyable spot for a late morning breakfast and walk. In the
summer, there is a streetside farmers market on Saturdays, which is
a great place to get fresh product.
Luray Caverns: 1 ½ hours away, but a good option if you are
visiting for an extended period and want to go do something
different. All our kids enjoyed the tour.
James Madison’s Montpelier: Only 25 minutes away.
Charlottesville: About an hour to get there, but nice for a
day trip. You can tour Monticello (Jefferson) or Ash Lawn (Monroe).
The downtown historic section is full of nice shops and cafes and
street musicians. Go up Route 29 to find Target and gourmet grocery
stores like Whole Foods and Harris Teeter.
Battlefields: Lots of Civil War Battlefields, if you like
that sort of thing.
Kings Dominion: 1 hour
Nissan Pavilion and Hilton Chapel: Both about 1 hour – good
to keep in mind for concerts.
