Lost Valley Lodge

Review submitted: April 11, 2014   Date of arrival: April 5, 2014

My girlfriend and I truly had an awesome time at LVL. You couldn't ask for a more accommodating and friendly staff. There's so much to do in the cabin, and the surrounding area. The cabin was extremely clean and well kept, and has a perfect view from the hot tub. I recommend this cabin to anybody staying in the area.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: What helps us at Lost Valley Lodge to make your stay so successful is that we are truly interested in meeting all of your needs. If we don't think based on your demands that LVL will meet your needs we will tell you so. No surprizes no promises we can't keep. We have lived by the motto Lets work Together to Build Memories Love to have You since 2007. Once in a while we come accross a challenging Guest but by now we realize they would be challenging to any Cabin Rental Business. We will continue to do what we do Best. That is to treat you fairly, meet all of your reasonable needs, help create a memory that you will share with your co-workers and friends in hopes of you returning in the future. Thanks from your area Manager Tamara, co-worker Haley, and Kenny.

We had a great cabin trip here.

Review submitted: March 16, 2014   Date of arrival: May 5, 2013

After reading the last review: I wanted to give my review of this cabin. First off a vacation is what you going to make of it and if you choose to be miserable because of things outside of the owners control, well then you're just going to be miserable. We stayed in May of 2013 and was our second trip to the Blue Ridge and it was the worst weather weekend that we could possibly have had. All it did was rain the whole time we were there. It was so bad that even our white water rafting tour trip got cancelled. We still had a great time. The dogs had an absolute blast in the creekdc behind the cabin even though due to the rain the creek was really moving fast. We even have video of them retrieving sticks and just playing around in the water. the weather didn't stop us from cooking out on the grill, it didn't stop us from taking a road trip to Chattanooga or just relaxing. The road getting there is not bad and after you drive it once it is not at all hard to negotiate. Is it mostly one lane to get there off the main street ...welcome to a cabin off the beaten path...we expected nothing less. The cabin is clean has all the basic needs, is a great place to use as a spring board to do a number of thing in and around Blue Ridge. Ken was a gem to work with and we are considering his quaint cabin again this year. Hopefully the weather will be better:-)

Disappointing and depressing

Review submitted: June 25, 2013   Date of arrival: June 15, 2013

The road to this cabin is narrow and treacherous with no edges, drop offs and especially difficult when meeting other traffic. Upon arrival at the cabin we realized how dark, gloomy and depressing the area was. No sunlight can reach the immediate area surrounding the cabin as the trees are very thick and the deck overhangs do not allow light in. Inside the cabin is lit by flourescent lighting which makes you feel you in an old office an ER room. The kitchen master bedroom laundry is upstairs so you have to haul everything up down the stairs. We booked zip lining and after driving for an hour were unable to find the location and were unable to get anyone at Ocoee to answer the phone for hours. Once they did respond they were kind enough to reimburse us the booking fee for zip lining which as they explained is against policy. White water rafting was unavailable on the dates we wanted. We inquired about kayaking and were told we had to rent them, load them on our SUV (there were three of us so vehicle wouldn't carry all three)and then we would have to drive them to another location to launch them. The wireless wouldn't connect and phone service was in and out so we drove to town to try and book things.Downtown Blue Ridge can be explored in about 20 minutes or less, they do not serve alcohol at any establishments on Sunday. Checked out 4 days early and left.

Owners response: I hope future guests read the past reviews and judge for themselves what might have happened here. We try our best to supply future guests with all of the needed information and contacts before they depart their home town so that they can plan ahead and make reservations for various activities in the Blue Ridge area. I was very dissappointed and surprized that these three gals checked out early. I had such wonderful verbal and email communications with the mom in preparation for her vacation with her two daughters. All of this has really taken me by surprize.
Upon inspection of the cabin after departure it looked like the aftermath of a bachelor's party. I am sorry that they found the town of Blue Ridge so very boring and the lack of alcohol on Sunday is out of my control. I am sorry that they didn't make reservations with Zip Lining ahead of time and requested the address. I am sorry that the river rafting wasn't planned well in advance. I am sorry that they did not get all of the needed information beforehand on the accesibility of kayaking. You can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time but never all of the people all of the time. We do have a motto at Lost Valley Lodge, Let's Work Together to Build Memories. Sincerly Ken Spangler Lost Valley Lodge
