Our Hagar Shores Cottage in Coloma

No Hurricanes, Nor'Easter's, Sharks, or Saltwater Found Here !!

What we do have to offer however is our large summer cottage within very easy walking distance to Lake Michigan for weekly rentals.

Located in the Hagar Shores area of Coloma Michigan in between St. Joseph and South Haven.

This area is a collection cottages surrounded by large Oaks and Maples in a rustic setting.

Our cottage is a member of a private beach association with a wonderful Lakeside compound complete with parking, clubhouse, playground, facilities, and the best part of all...over 1/2 mile of clean, beautiful private Lake Michigan beach where the sunsets just cannot be beat.

The beach compound is typically not very busy...especially on weekdays and the further you move away from the bluff staircase.

The beach compound is not public and thus allows allows alcohol, camping, etc...but the following basic common sense rules are very strictly enforced.

-No Glass
-No Animals
-No Motorized Vehicles
-Campfires ONLY in desginated areas with a permit
-No dangerous and disruptive behavior

PLEASE NOTE: No properties in this association including ours are located directly on the beach compound property as the bluff above the private beach remains completely wooded. But it takes less than a minute to drive from our house to the compound and we usually walk about 7 or 8 minutes. There seemed to be some confusion where people thought this house was located directly on Lake Michigan itself so we wanted to include this note to properly set expectations.

Our cottage is a large older house that we have renovated with tasteful updates while maintaining its "Lake Cottage" charm.

-2 Full Bathrooms
Note: Upstairs bath has full tub (but no shower) so is best suited for the kids

-A large "Kid's Dorm" bedroom with five twin beds and a Pack-n-Play crib

-Front porch with piano and multiple seating areas

-Back porch with pull out couch for an extra sleeping space

-Full dining room with seating for 10-12

-Breakfast nook with table and counter seating

-Small 'Kichenette' upstairs with table, sink, and microwave

-Galley kitchen with all appliances, cookware, dishes, etc.

-Living room with couch, loveseat, chair, and TV

-Large deck of the rear porch with full patio set

-Platform deck in the side yard with full patio set

-Full basement with bar and laundry facilities

-Large yard around the house with extra property behind the house for yard sports

Tons of little nooks and crannys the kids seem to love exploring and playing in!

Rentals are limited to 13 occupants.

If the private beach is not enough.. two small public beaches are located about 5 minutes north and south of this location. Moreover the large State beaches in St Joseph (Silver Beach) and South Haven are both located about 20 minutes away.

The towns of St Joseph 10 minutes South and South Haven 15 minutes North also make wonderful dining and shopping destinations and offer many summertime festivals and shows.

Further down the shore you will find the New Buffalo area with the outstanding Four Winds Casino about 30 minutes away.

Further up the shore past South Haven are the beautiful towns of Saugatuk, Holland a fun 30 and 45 minute drive respectively.

Numerous water sports, golfing, and other outdoor activities such as fruit picking are plentiful throughout the area with detailed information in our guest book at the property.

Full week or multi-week rentals only for the peak months of July and August -Check-In on Saturdays at 3pm and Check-Out the following Saturday by 10am

Flexible time periods are available for the non-peak months of May, June, and September

A cleaning fee of $75 and the the State of Michigan 6% tax will also be added to the rental price.

A $300 refundable security deposit is also required.

Pets -With prior approval we allow dogs only at a rate of $150 per dog.  Our pet terms can be found in our rental agreement.  Sorry we do not allow cats.
