Vacation Rental Description

This condo has been in our family for a long time, but we don't get to use it much. Which  
is a shame, because it is exquisite! As you can see from the photos, it is right on the canal  
(ground floor), which means you walk right out of the lanai (sun porch) onto some grass,  
cobbled path, seawall, and canal. If you're lucky, you'll see a manatee rolling around in the  
canal. Look to the left and you see out across Sarasota Bay to the mainland. Pelicans and  
herons glide by regularly. Walk to the right along the canal, cross the only real street on  
Longboat Key (Gulf of Mexico Drive) and there you are at the beach. The beach is also  
incredible--Caribbean clear water, and never more than a few people along this stretch.  
Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins and sea turtles! Neighbors are very friendly and glad to  
help or give advice. Grounds are kept beautifully (cacti, palms, mango trees, tropical  
flowers).  
 
Inside, the condo is very well taken care of. We are constantly improving, and you will  
notice all the new furniture, kitchenware, carpet, tile, etc (see "Amenities" below). It is a  
two bedroom condo. The master bedroom has a very comfy king size bed, big closet, a  
dresser that spans the entire wall, desk, cordless phone with answering machine, and a  
view of the canal. The second bedroom has two full size beds, big closet, and dresser. The  
master bedroom has its own full bathroom, and there is another full bathroom just outside  
the second bedroom. There is also a kitchen with a pass-through to the dining room. A  
living room, and the lanai. "Lanai" is the Florida word for a sun porch. It has sliding glass  
and screen doors all the way around, and blinds. There is a nice table and sitting area  
there, where we love to have our meals and enjoy the breeze and views.  
 
The condo is also always impeccably clean. We have a great cleaning service come before  
and after anyone comes to stay. They do a great job.  
 
Sarasota is the closest airport (about 40 mins.), but Tampa has better deals (1 hour 45  
mins.).  
 
We'll be in New York while you are enjoying Longboat, but we are always available for tips,  
questions, problems, etc.  
 
Smoking is not permitted.

Vacation Rental Amenities

Central air and heat, new dishwasher, new stove/oven, new fridge, coffee maker, laundry 50 ft. away,  
covered parking 20 ft. from front door, special beach access area for Longboat Harbour  
residents (with parking, lockers, changing area, indoor/outdoor showers, frigid water  
fountain, great benches for enjoying sunsets, pristine beach, and the gorgeous gulf!),  
three close pools to choose from (all with incredible bay views), jacuzzi for all Longboat  
Harbour residents, well-equipped community exercize/weight/aerobics room, small  
library, bicycle/kayak storage (can be rented a mile away), tennis courts, golf nearby, one  
wall phone, one cordless phone w/ answering machine, stereo, free wireless high speed internet, 29"  
(or so) TV with cable and DVD/VCR, sheets, towels, all kitchen/bathroom supplies. We also keep a  
collection of menus with recommendations, including very casual to very fancy options. Super market,  
drug store, post office, churches, synagogue, movies, and other needs nearby.

Activities and Attractions

In addition to simply living at the beach, you can:  
- walk the entire canal cobble path system  
- rent a kayak (have it delivered) and explore the canals, the mangrove islands, the bay,  
and gulf beach  
- Lounge at the pools  
- Visit the conservation areas and excellent aquarium  
- Charter a big or small deep sea fishing trip  
- Head to St. Armand's Circle for great shopping, strolling, ice cream cones, and dining  
- Discover the great, hidden, and very fresh seafood shacks  
- Buy some fish right off the docks and cook it at home  
- bike/jog/skate along the wide pedestrian path with runs the entire length of the island  
- Watch the orange/pink sunsets over the green/blue gulf

Vacation Rental Rates

We charge $3000/month for peak season, and less for other months. Off peak rates depend  
on length of stay. Minimum 2 month stay. Feb and March 2009 already booked. Dec 2008 and Jan 2009 still  
available!
