Charming Place!

LAResident (Los Angeles, CA)
Review submitted: October 27, 2012   Date of arrival: October 17, 2012

The house was charming and very clean. I was staying with my parents and brother who were visiting Los Angeles for a family wedding from overseas. Being walking distance from Abbot Kinney was very convenient, which has the great Intelligentsia coffee not to mention lots of good food and fun shops to browse. 10 min tops to the airport was a big perk. Venice beach was a long walk and not worth it, a really cheesy and trashy part of the beach. Santa Monica is better and Malibu is breathtaking. Fortunately Santa Monica was only a 5 minute drive and we really enjoyed eating at The Lobster by Santa Monica pier. I live in Echo Park and because of the distance I probably would stay in Malibu to be by a better part of the beach but I would be happy to recommend to a friend or family member.

Owners response: Thanks for your compliments! A word about Venice Beach: it's not like Malibu or Hawaii, but it's a unique and fun part of Venice; street performers, shops, roller bladers, artists, Muscle Beach, a stimulating scene...and you can see cutting edge architecture all around on the way there, especially if you go through the canals. You can go out and experience the Venice Beach scene, then come back to the serenity of the house on a quiet little one way street and relax.

Beautiful home, great location, terrific owner

Emiliano M. (Menlo Park, CA)
Review submitted: July 31, 2012   Date of arrival: July 19, 2012

I stayed at this wonderful home for three nights in July with a group of friends.
The home is beautiful, comfortable, and well-appointed. It gets a lot of natural light and, with the doors open, usually has a nice breeze to regulate the temperature. It had all the amenities we needed for our stay, and everything worked as expected.
This house is easily accessible by foot to the happening stretch of Abbott Kinney, the canals, the beach, and the area where Washington runs into the beach. All are a pleasant 10-20 minute walk, or a short drive/taxi of about a mile.
Lastly, Jane is a fantastic owner who is responsive, accommodating and understanding.
I hope to stay here again someday!

Recommended for: families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, tourists without a car

Owners response: Thanks, Emiliano. It was my pleasure and I really appreciate the good review!

Loved it.

Peanut (Sydney NSW Australia)
Review submitted: March 12, 2012   Date of arrival: March 7, 2012

The property itself is great - clean, well maintained and equipped, had everything we needed including free wireless internet. Jane, the owner was fantastic. So helpful and always available to answer any queries, getting back to you promptly both throughout the booking process and also once we arrived. Everything was easy, nothing was a problem and the location suited us perfectly, a nice quiet neighbourhood but only five minutes walk from the shops, the restaurants and of course the beach and the boulevarde.

(Small tip for Australians and anyone else who's into real coffee...the best "proper" coffee we found was at Groundworks - there's one on Westminster down by the beach and another one up at Santa Monica food market. They serve good strong coffee from clean espresso machines. As opposed to that hot milky brown stuff they pass off as cappuccinos or lattes at most of the popular American coffee chains.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Thank you so much!
