Great Weekend Getaway

pemsky (Weehawken,NJ,USA)
Review submitted: February 11, 2013   Date of arrival: February 8, 2013

My friends and I headed to Robins Nest this past weekend and we cant wait to get back!
The house is lovely, a perfect little place to get away and relax. The fire and hot tub were on when we arrived so all we had to do was sit back and enjoy. 10 of us slept comfortably with room to spare. The master bedroom was beautiful and had an en suite.
Almost all of the questions we had were answered by either notes around the house or a book found near the fire. The hot tub and fire place were very easy to use!
We were worried about a large snow storm coming this weekend but Valarie was great and assured us that it would that everything would be alright. We were told to park at the top of the driveway so that someone would shovel and plow the driveway! What great service! Didn't leave the property much because of a snow storm but we stopped at the Foodtown and Liquor store that Valarie can told us about.
The stream was beautiful and everything was even prettier in the snow!
We can not wait to get back there this spring. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a great get away that's close to NYC and easy to get to.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

Brittany H. ()
Review submitted: February 4, 2013   Date of arrival: January 25, 2013

I surprised my husband with a trip to the Pocono's for his birthday. Four couples (including us) stayed and we were all able to sleep comfortably and fairly privately. The house was clean and Valerie even had the pellet stove running for us when we arrived to warm everything up. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook with and all the appliances worked well.

We were not able to make much use of the deck, grill or outside property because it was the middle of winter. However, we did enjoy the hot tub! The property with the stream out back is beautiful and it looked even better with a little bit of snow on the ground. We had some very friendly deer come right up to the steps of the porch to visit too!

We were sad to find out that Bushkill Falls is closed in the winter months, but Valerie recommended PEEC. It was only about 5 minutes down the road and provided us with a fun (and free) hike in the mountains. Because we were only there for a short weekend, we didn't go anywhere else. But there is a book provided in the house that had many other local attractions.

We had a great weekend and would definitely recommend this property to anyone interested in visiting the area. The house is clean, spacious and very nice and the property is quiet, private and beautiful. Valerie is available to answer any and all questions promptly. I'm hoping we can come back again in the spring or summer months.

Just What We Were Looking For...

LRVRRR (New York)
Review submitted: August 31, 2012   Date of arrival: August 17, 2012

This was our first online rental, and we could not have been more impressed or happy. Our questions were answered promptly and transaction was seamless.

When we arrived, the house was clean and very orderly. It was nice to see that prior guests were respectful of the contents, and everyone seemed to have the same interests in mind. Robin's Nest is fully stocked for living, and has many amenities (full cookware, outdoor grill, utensils, plates, glasses, etc.), and they were all clean and ready to use. The beds were all made and bathrooms were stocked and serviceable. The deck in the back had tables, chairs, and, of course, the hot tub; which was clean and inviting.

The property is secluded and if you are looking to relax and unwind, you can't help but to do it here. We spent a lot of time enjoying the deck; our puppy was welcomed and happy to be part of the setting. Wildlife was abounding, and the creek was a good place to walk to and experience. The hot tub was a deal breaker for us, many mornings and evenings were spent enjoying the benefits of this luxury.

There are several places to socialize and eat in a short drive's distance in Stroudsburg or Milford. Also, antiquing, outlets, flea markets, small town shops, day spas took up our time. Milford is a nice small town (enjoy a meal at the River Rock Inn...), and East Stroudsburg is a college town. We visited Bushkill Falls for a very commercial hike, which provided a lot of steps and views. Basically, if you want to do something, you can; and if you want to look into the trees and listen to water trickling by, you can do that too.

We also opted to use the community's recreation center, which brought the pool(s) into the mix, and the owners arranged for access to horseback riding, which our daughter absolutely loved, and the staff there was patient and helpful. She is an experienced rider, and had no problem adapting.

If you are looking for a high adventure, nonstop action, site seeing vacation, I am not sure you can find it here, but if you are looking to get your blood pressure back to 120/80... or below... Robin's Nest is the place to do it.

You cannot help but to thank the accommodating and non interfering owners of this property, and look on the calendar for the next opportunity to return.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway
