Located directly on Diamond Lake-this 3BR/2Bath home has a fenced
yard, 70' pier, and beds for 9. Located on the west side of the lake
with a bluff behind it leaves the water calm even on a windy day.
Diamond Lake is the largest inland lake in SW Michigan (it has a car
ferry over to a residential island). Diamond Lake is the ideal water
ski, fishing, or boating lake, with plenty of shoreline for
interesting sightseeing by boat. And because it is so large, it
rarely seems crowded with boats, even on summer weekends. This
3BR/2Bath(showers only) home is 2 hours from Chicago, 30 minutes
from South Bend, and 1 hour from Kalamazoo.
MBR has a Queen Pillowtop, second BR has 2 twins, third BR has a
double bed and a day bed with trundle, plus a queen Sleeper sofa in
the Great Room. Great Room has 14' redwood plank cathedral ceiling,
fireplace and ac unit at one end, kitchen at the other. Hardwood
flooring throughout. Sunporch faces the lake, with wrap-around deck
beyond that.
There is a patio and "sandbox" (used for bon fires or sun bathing) out by the lake. Room for vollyball
between the house and lake. Sandy bottom out chest deep; docking for
3 boats. Home is NOT wheel chair accessible.
Turn-key furnished, including linens, BBQ, etc. Several golf courses
within 15 minutes (2 within 2 miles).

Great location, very dirty!

We stayed in this rental property as a last minute cancellation, so we paid half of what everyone else pays in advance. If we would have paid the full price, I would be very unhappy. There was pet hair EVERYWHERE. The rugs had clearly not been cleaned as well as the floors. There were cob webs everywhere. Nothing was cleaned. The toilets were even dirty. It was a real shame because the place could have been nice. The sandbox area that they talk about is more like a dirt box with weeds everywhere. We do not have animals, but we do have a 2 year old child and I spent the entire week trying to keep him off of the floors and couches since they were so dirty. We covered the couches with sheets it was so bad. The dog hair was EVERYWHERE. I am not sure what the cleaning fee goes to because it is obviously not for cleaning. The fenced in yard was GREAT for a toddler.

Owners response: I am so sorry that you did not have a good experience. I assure you, it is the rare exception.

I have been renting our Diamond Lake house out for several years now, and have had dozens of satisfied guests, as evidenced by the fact that about half are return visitors each summer. I live in Florida, and unfortunately, have not physically been to my cottage quite some time. I rely on a cleaning service, and obviously, they have let me down and let you down as well. What you describe is unacceptable. Somehow, the Cleaning Service never cleaned after the previous tenant prior to your stay. I do wish you would have contacted either me or the local Property Manager with your concerns on the first day of your stay, instead of waiting and enduring these unacceptable conditions.

My son and his wife are heading to the cottage in a few days to see what needs to be done, including adding sand to the “sandbox”. The winter weather and lake ice often play havoc with sand at the water’s edge. However, this area is used by some guests for a fire pit, so, as I mentioned to you before going, it might not necessarily be appropriate for toddlers.

Again, my apologies for the less than satisfactory experience.
