Great condo in Fernandina Beach

We rented the Jamesons Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach condo over Spring Break 2013 and had a wonderful stay. This completely renovated condo had all the amenities we needed. A Beautiful kitchen and updated vanities and tub/showers in both bathrooms, the condo also had hard wood floors through the hall and bedrooms. The antiques, artsy furniture and artwork gave the space a contemporary feel. The condo unit is closest to the beach and is only a five minute walk from door to beach sand...which I timed myself. Fernandina Beach has a fantastic downtown and main street with lots of shops and dining. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this condo to any of our friends.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Wonderful Vacation Property!

My wife and I wanted to take our family on a relaxing vacation by the beach. Having visited Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach, years ago we decided to try it again. We're glad we did because we have found our new favorite vacation spot! It's only a block or so from the beach and it is in a quiet area, away from the roads. The best thing about this place is the inside! It is spotless and has been updated, it feels very trendy with wood floors and a gourmet kitchen - it's nicer than any hotel you could stay at - especially for the price. You can tell the owners take pride in it. There is plenty of space for a larger family with the 3 bedrooms, our kids each had their own room. As far as the beach, it's a quick walk and it's one of the best beaches we have been to. Quiet, not overcrowded, waves, lots of sand, it's perfect! The town is neat too, with local restaurants or all your chains only a few minutes away if you want. I would highly recommend this place, you won't regret it!!

close proximity to beach...

The location of this condo makes it desirable for beach lovers! The decor is charming and the island is what you make it, be it a family vacation or romantic getaway! I feel in all fairness that I must mention "beware of the cleaning service" On the morning that we were scheduled to leave, we had an extensive "list" of chores compared to other rentals, that included wash and dry towels, load dishwasher and run it, wipe out sink etc. We did everything but change sheets! We left it in better condition than we found it! So imagine our surprise when the cleaning lady reported to the owner that she had to do extra cleaning and a fee was deducted from our deposit. The owner totally disregarded us, not exactly good customer service! The sliding glass doors leading out to the porch hadn't been cleaned nor were the bathroom mirrors. We had to scrup the chairs on the porch and sweep the debris before we could sit down and relax. The neighbors can verify this. The floors inside were sandy and the corners were covered in "dustbunnies". This is not acceptable. We read the reviews and wish we had been told to expect to clean when you get there and clean when you leave... I would have rather done that than "pay" for a cleaning service!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: I spoke on the phone to this client a few hours after he checked in to make sure everything was fine. At that time he did not mention that the unit was not clean or unsatisfactory. If he had, we would have immediately had the cleaning service come out to remedy any issues.

It was only after he checked out, that we had to charge him $20 to compensate the cleaning company to stay late to wash the dishes and move the laundry along. This party failed to follow our simple check out instructions, which he received well before he checked in.

Summer is our high renting season and the weekend turnaround is tight. The cleaning service has to turn not just this unit but others, including a second ocean front property we own. We have clear and reasonable check-out instructions to follow so that our units can be maintained to the highest quality.

It is unfortunate that this client felt he was treated unfairly as we try to make sure all our clients feel satisfied with choosing our rentals.
