Vacation Rental Description

Availability. The beach house is fully booked for the summer peak season.  
Please contact us to get on the waiting list in case of cancellations. 
The beach house is  
unrented/available for the following weeks:    
Aug 31-Sep 7, $700    
Sep 7-14, $600    
Sep 14-21, $600   
Sep 21-28, $600  
Sep 28-Oct 5, $500  
etc.   
 
The house is in a private location, wooded lot, by a canal,  
overlooking a pond and marshland in the back, located at the end of a  
quiet dead-end street. It is one mile from the beach. 
 
No smoking. No pets. We like family rentals. The person who signs the  
lease must be one of the tenants. 
 
All renters were delighted with the appeal of this house in the past  
rental seasons! 
 
The house is seventeen years old, good condition, nicely decorated and  
furnished. It is not a large place, but it feels roomy, with high  
ceiling in the living-dining-kitchen area and lots of windows. The  
kitchen is fully equipped and stocked (but no dishwasher). Canoe,  
wind-surfer-board, and bicycles are provided (but not guaranteed).  
Rentals are Sunday-to-Sunday, so driving traffic is usually light,  
makes for a relaxed arrival. 
 
Our Bethany home has two bedrooms. The master bedroom has one queen- 
size bed. The other bedroom has two twin beds (with a roll-away third  
twin bed). The living room has a queen sleeper sofa. The capacity of  
the house is six people (4 in beds plus 2 in sleeper-sofa). Please  
bring your own linens and towels.  
Some blankets and pillows are provided. The house has a full bath  
(shower stall, no tub), a half-bath in the master bedroom, and an  
outdoor shower.

Vacation Rental Amenities

The house is fully furnished, and has a clothes washer/dryer. The  
house has central air conditioning and heat, and ceiling fans are in  
every room. Two picnic tables are provided outside (one under the  
house and one in an adjacent picnic area), and patio furniture for  
dining on the screened porch. 
 
The kitchen is fully-equipped, stocked with dishes, pots, pans,  
utensils, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker (uses standard basket- 
style paper filters), popcorn popper, toaster, can opener. 
 
For entertainment, 27-inch TV, DVD/VHS VCR, basic cable are provided,  
with some videos. Bethany has video rental stores on Route 26 that  
will rent to short-term tenants, no membership fee (including  
Blockbuster). When watching TV, turn off the VCR (so the VCR tuner  
doesn't interfere with the TV). When watching a video, turn on the  
VCR and leave the TV on channel 3. Another TV/DVD/VHS-VCR is in the  
master bedroom.

Activities and Attractions

Our Bethany house has plenty of parking. The parking meters at the  
beach take quarters only, $1.25 per hour. (Note, after 4:00  
PM, you can move your car to the street permit parking on some  
Bethany streets, where there are no meters. Don't block a driveway,  
which may be grassy. But if you park at a meter, you have to pay  
through the evening.)  
 
As an alternative to driving to the beach, the house is equipped with  
several adult and kids bicycles, and two bike trailers (to carry  
young kids or gear), as well as a kid's wagon. The house is one mile  
from beach. From the development, turn left onto Kent Ave, and turn  
right after three blocks onto Jefferson Bridge Road. Please bring  
your own bike helmets. (Can't guarantee the presence and condition of  
the bicycles after many tenants have used them.) 
 
There is a canal next to the home. A full-size canoe is at the house,  
and paddles and life vests should be stored in the outdoor shower.  
Two child life vests (up to 100 lbs.) should be inside, above the  
washing machine. If you take the canal to the left (southeast) you  
can paddle into the Assawoman Wetlands Refuge (osprey and bald eagle  
nests, blue herons, etc.).

Weekly rental rates for 2008: 
March-May: $500 
June 1: $550 
June 8: $650 
June 15: $800 
June 22: $1000 
June 29 - August 23: $1100 
August 24: $1000 
August 31: $700 
September: $600 
October-December: $500 
 
Off-Season Weekends: Sept = $300; Oct-Dec = $250/weekend  (Booked Last-Minute). 
Jan 01, 2009 - Mar 01, 2009   ..  Closed for winter. Negotiable, Please Call. 
 
I don't use a rental agent. Please provide a $300 deposit per week of  
rental when placing the rental reservation, and make the rest of the  
payment at least three weeks in advance of the start of the rental. I  
will mail you the keys when I receive full payment. If you have to  
cancel a reservation and I am able to rent to someone else, I will  
refund all of the deposit. If I am unable to rent it out again, the  
deposit is forfeited.
