vacation rental description
Fish off your own private lighted pier in our backyard and watch the fish swim in the underwater light. Or just sit
on the deck and watch the sunset.
Our home sits right on Copano Bay - not on a canal - not a 'bay
view" - not 'bay access". Right on the bay. There is a huge deck on
the bayside with a picnic table and a covered porch. This is the
perfect family fishing destination - it just doesn't get easier and
more fun. Available for short term rentals as well as monthly for Winter Texans.
You have your own private lighted fishing pier right in the
backyard - all to yourself with benches, two separate platforms and
a covered cleaning station with power and water. You have a 1500w
high intensity fishing light which really can bring in the fish at
night! Access two private boat ramps right in the neighborhood and
you are located right on the water and in the heart of some the best
saltwater fishing in the state.
Come sit on our deck and watch the dolphins play! Drink coffee in
the shade every morning and toast the sunset over the bay every
night. Catch redfish, trout, flounder and blue crab from your pier.
Watch the majestic blue herons hunting right in your own backyard.
The palm trees, the fishing, the view, and the soft air of the Gulf
Coast will delight you.
Rockport is also know as a birding destination. Here's a brief of the first 6 months of the Rockport Calendar of Birds:
January- whooping cranes, sandhill cranes, snow geese, snowy and piping plovers, American Avocet and Marled Godwit
February- Harris's Hawk, cranes, Great Kiskadee, Green Jay, Cactus Wren
March-American Golden Plover, Sandpipers, Eared Grebe, hummingbirds
April- broad winged Hawks, Mississippi Kites, warblers, vireos, thrashers, buntings, raptors
May- over 140 species can be expected including warblers, tanager and more
June- Cassin's, White tailed Hawk, Crested Cracara, Greater Roadrunner, Ladder backed woodpeckers, Scissor-tailed flycatchers
Our home has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and living room
with cable TV. There are two bedrooms and two baths. The bedrooms
have queen sized beds and the house sleeps four comfortably. All
cooking utensils are provided as well as bed linens. Bring food,
clothes, towels and personal items and get ready to relax!
Rockport is the saltwater fishing and birding capital of the Texas
Gulf Coast.
Just 45 minutes from Port Aransas and Corpus Christi,
and an hour from Padre Island, Rockport is a wonderful getaway.
Located on the Live Oak peninsula, Rockport is a haven of ancient
oak trees surrounded by water on three sides. Rockport is also home
to a thriving art community, and along with Fulton, a treasure trove
of old Texas history.
Redfish Retreat is in the Holiday Beach neighborhood, located on the
northeast shore of beautiful Copano Bay on Lamar Peninsula. We are
just across the Copano causeway from Rockport and Fulton on highway
35. The drive to town takes about 13 minutes. By boat you are just a
mile or so by water from famed Turtle Pen Point.
The water is 3-4 feet deep at our pier's end, perfect for bay
fishing, and boating - but no diving in! Copano bay is perfect for
fishing, but for swimming you have plenty of nearby beaches to
choose from. The Gulf of Mexico is 45 minutes away on Mustang Island
at Port Aransas, with Padre Island National Seashore a little
further. Rockport has a shallow, calm sandy beach right in town and
it's the state's only Blue Wave Beach. It's perfect for smaller
children since there is no current or surf.
You can catch your own dinner here - redfish, trout, flounder as
well as shrimp and blue crab can be found right off the pier. Or,
you can drive into Rockport, Fulton, Aransas Pass or even Corpus
Christi for the freshest seafood around. Try the harbor in Fulton
first, there's nothing like buying your shrimp right off the boat!
Copano Bay is a nursery bay, and is permanently closed to shrimp
boats throughout the year. As a result, the water is clearer, the
fish more plentiful, and the fishing can be fantastic!
