vacation rental description

This stunning home was featured in Home and Garden Magazine.

The home was also used in the filming of Spin, a film by Jamie Redford, Robert's son.

It was also showcased in the Sundance Catalog.

Long before the 1853 Gadsden Purchase placed southern Arizona under U.S. jurisdiction, the city of Tucson was a Spanish colonial outpost. When Mexico achieved independence in 1821, Tucson became part of the new country.

Those transnational links survive in downtown's Barrio Historico, whose 150
adobe row houses make up our country's largest collection of traditional Sonoran architecture.

The 20-block neighborhood is entered on the national Historic Register.

Explore on foot, making sure to light a candle at the outdoor shrine to El Tiradito, a herder who was killed in a lover's dispute in 1870. According to legend, pilgrims whose candles stay lit through the night will see their wishes come true.

Nearby, El Minuto Cafe, est. 1936, dishes out Sonoran cuisine as
authentic as the neighborhood.

"It's (Barrio Libre) a perfect place to celebrate the contributions
of Mexican immigrants to American culture." *USA Today May 15, 2005*

This Amazing Historic home is a rare Spanish Colonial home built in 1880 and thoughtfully restored less than 5 years ago.

The adobe walls of the massive structure are over 2 feet thick and almost 20
feet high. The ceilings are covered with Saguaro ribs and topped with over 2 feet of concrete which replaced the dirt that was used as insulation in the 1880's.

Traditional period Spanish/Mexican religious art adorn the walls. See more pictures, please email and I will send you the link to the home's email address.

traveler reviews for this tucson house rental

your superb and unusual vacation home

()
Review submitted: April 23, 2013   Date of arrival: March 29, 2013

Convent House and your personal tour was just as we had hoped from previous reviwers, so we were delighted from the get go and continued to feel that way throughout our all too short stay . Everything was to our liking and you attended to the pool/AC questions promptly. Pool use and AC written instructions would be helpful for those of us who are more used to handling heating sytems!

We would heartliy recommed this house and this area of Arizona to anyone who is looking for a memorable trip, on their own terms as opposed to resort living. Too many great things to list and we will return. Hope for more downtime at the house next time as we enjoyed being there so much.

Mexican food was great at small, cheap restaurants as were the Mexican supermarkets for home cooking in great kitchen . More cutlery, cups, plates and dishes would be very helpful as we were a party of 7 liking to eat in.

We have been home nearly 3 weeks and have many fond memories of the house and the area and we plan on returning to this charming and highly photogenic location.

A piece of history with modern amenities

Review submitted: March 28, 2013   Date of arrival: March 2, 2013

This home was wonderful for our group. Every inch of the property shows loving care and attention to details...historical and modern updates. It is in easy walking distance of many wonderful downtown places to eat and museums to visit, while having a huge private courtyard where you feel miles away from others.
We will be back.

Perfection in the Old Pueblo!

Jeff S. ()
Review submitted: July 16, 2012   Date of arrival: July 3, 2012

This house is more than just a house. It's a sanctuary, a magical and wonderful place. My wife and I enjoyed a perfect vacation in Tucson thanks to the comforts of the Convent house. This was the first time we've ever done a vacation rental. We looked into the local resorts, but we were not thrilled about losing all of the comforts, conveniences, and the independence that being in a home afford us. We took a first time chance in Craig and we are SO glad that we did. The pictures on this site, as lovely as they are, do not do the house justice. We walked in, our jaws dropped at the beauty of the house, and we walked around dumbfounded for days. The house is clean beyond reproach and filled with every amenity imaginable. Love to cook? This is the house for you. I cooked daily in the kitchen and loved it. Everything was there: the fancy stove, fridge and freezer, ice maker, superior pots and pans, even a high-end citrus juicer! Full laundry services, unique showers, beautiful decor. Beds and couches are comfortable. The pool, the spa, the backyard, the fountain...I could go on and on. It broke my heart to leave and we will be sure to enjoy Craig's hospitality year after year from now on. Do yourself a favor and rent here. You will not regret it!
