Vallecito Lake Hideaway in Durango

If you're looking for the BEST VIEWS at Vallecito and END OF THE ROAD SECLUSION then it just doesn't get any better than this!!! The pictures we posted tell the whole story. No neighbors right on top of you or a busy road just out of a misleading camera shot. What you see is what you get!!    We are at the end of the road with the San Juan National Forest as our back property line.   
 The retreat is what you would hope for in a mountain getaway. It is very secluded, pretty, warm,
cozy and soothing; with wood paneling, aspen T+G vaulted ceilings, and lots of windows to gaze out
at God's handiwork. And of course there's the wraparound deck with gazebo overlooking the lake for
dining, gawking, BBQing, or just hanging out.                                                             Just up the trail that starts at the top of the drive the Weminuche Wilderness begins. One mile up is Freeman Park, an alpine glade with a pure Colorado mountain stream running through.  
 At 500,000 acres, the Weminuche is the largest in Colorado, relatively unknown, uncrowded and awesome!  
 
 The fishing in the lake is great. If you want big trophy fish monster Pike are pulled out every year. Also plenty of Rainbow Trout and Kokanee Salmon that you don't need to be an expert angler to catch. The road goes all around the lake and there are plenty of good spots to fish from shore. There's also 2 marinas that rent fishing boats by the hour or day. They also rent "party barges" so everyone can go! There's also some great hiking trails that are nearby
and easy. You can hike up either Vallecito Creek or the Los Pinos River into the Weminuche which begins at both trailheads. There are also ATVs for rent to take you up forest roads and trails high up into the mountains right across the lake! And on the Fourth of July you can watch the fireworks over the lake at eye level right from your deck! 

   FALL-  If you miss the summer season don't despair! Sept., Oct. and Nov. are our favorite seasons. Perfect weather, sun abounds and the hills ablaze with autumn color! Try the Million Dollar Highway tour over the high passes through Silverton and Telluride. A must do fall day trip. 
  HUNTERS- A perfect base camp and you are welcome. The wilderness area just above the property provides reliably good deer and elk hunting.
  THANKSGIVING- what better place to gather with loved ones to give thanks for God's creation.     
  CHRISTMAS- Who doesn't dream of a white Christmas? We'll have the tree and house decorated. The woodpile will be stocked so you can enjoy the woodstove/fireplace. Let it snow!
  SKIERS-  We are conveniently located between two of our vavorite ski areas, Durango Mtn. Resort (Purgatory) and Wolf Creek. Both are great smaller areas boasting some of the best powder in the country and short or no lift lines! We much prefer these over the huge areas of Aspen and Vail. All you need and just plain less hassle. Wolf creek has some of the most and deepest powder anywhere!! Both are family friendly, terrain to please all. Across the lake are miles of groomed Nordic trails along the shore.

Jan 2 - March 9                     $175 per night, Minimum stay 2 nights.

March 10 - 17                        $200 per night, Minimum stay 4 nights.

March 18 - April 4                   $175 per night, Minimum stay 2 nights.

April 5 - April 30                     $200 per night, Minimum stay 2 nights.

May 1 - Oct 14                       $225 per night w/ 4 night stays (or more), -

                                            $250 per night w/ 2 or 3 night stays.

Oct 15 - Nov 20                      $175 per night, Minimum stay 2 nights.

Nov 21 - 25                            $275 per night, Minimum stay 4 nights.

Nov 26 - Dec 21                     $175 per night, Minimum stay 2 nights.

Dec 22 - Dec 31                     $300 per night, minimum stay 7 nights. 

Holiday Rates and Minimum Stays are:

If 4th of July falls on your stay - Minimum stay 4 nights at $275 per night.

Thanksgiving - minimum 4 night stay at $275 per night.

Christmas/New Years - minimum 7 night stay @$300 per night.

30 day cancellation notice for full refund. $100 cleaning fee and 6.8% tax will be added to your total.      NO PET FEES WHATSOEVER!
