traveler reviews for this grand lake cabin rental

All the comforts of Home!!

Review submitted: May 25, 2014   Date of arrival: May 9, 2014

We stayed over the mothers day weekend. When we arrived, the house heater had stopped working, we contacted Jason ( the owner) and he had the utility company contact me. We decided they should come out to check it out "Just in case" and they said it was broke... Jason was willing to pay to have it fixed and pay all the extra overtime expenses to make sure we were going to comfortable ( over a 1000.00 fix)... but we decided that we would just keep the floor board heaters on, and since we were cooking a lot, it warmed the house right up into the 70's.. even with the outside temp being in the low 30's. I Loved Loved Loved that fact that there is a down stairs bedroom and bathroom, it helped make my Father in laws stay so much easier , since stairs are hard for him. Only thing I would recommend is bring your own pillows.. the ones upstairs are SUPER soft.
Owner were easy to deal with and very accommodating to early check in. Saw a TON of wild life also... Moose all over the place :)

Recommended for: families with young children, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing

Owners response: Thanks for taking the time to post this review and for the great feedback. We really appreciate your flexibility in dealing with the heater during your stay. We have updated our cleaning and preparation process to make sure the heater is on (collecting and storing energy) at all times during the cold months. This way we will be able to identify issues more proactively.

I wanted to let everyone know that the Steffes Heater has been repaired and is basically a totally new system.

I will add that near the beginning of the summer season we re-stock the cabin with various items like blankets, pillows, towels, etc... For some reason pillows like to grow legs and walk out of the cabin. Of course, pillows can be quite specific and customized to the individual so keep that in mind.

Girl Scout friends reunion after 50+ years

Review submitted: October 5, 2013   Date of arrival: September 21, 2013

We were 4 old friends who live in different states having a wonderful reunion at the cabin. Three more old friends joined us for 2 nights so we were able to use all the beds, including the 2 twin sleepers upstairs and the hideabed in the living room, fitting comfortably. We were there while Trail Ridge Road and Rocky Mountain National Park were closed due to the flooding in Estes Park, but it opened up a few days later so we got to enjoy everything, especially the wonderful cabin which was very clean. A couple of problems were addressed and fixed almost immediately. We used the firepit one evening to sing Girl Scout songs and make s'mores. The listing photos are really accurate. We enjoyed reading the guest book with lots of great comments and recommendations from previous visitors. I would recommend this cabin to anyone. Luckily we figured out how to enlarge the table which is easy to open (just pull it apart and lift up the leaf) and can fit at least 8 people around it.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway
