vacation rental description
Mike's House is located in Pigeon Cay,an exclusive beachfront
hideway of private homes on the northeast side of picturesque Cat
Island, Bahamas. Built of wood and stucco three years ago, this
comfortable house has cathedral ceilings and ceiling fans
throughout. There are two master suites, each with colorful
seaglass tile baths and french doors leading onto the shady veranda
directly overlooking the ocean. The great room, dining area, and
fully equipped kitchen also open onto the veranda. Your secluded,
powder-sand beach, with perfect swimming -- no undertow, no rip
tide, gently slopping sandy bottom -- is just a few feet down the
path off the veranda.
villa rental amenities
Mike's House has a fully furnished and equipped kitchen (including
herbs and spices and a dishwasher for the serious cook), a washer
and dryer, and dining areas in the great room and on the seaside
shady veranda. Each bedroom has a queen bed and private bath. A
hammock and comfortable outdoor furniture enhance your enjoyment of
the veranda, which is always shady and cool. There are two sea
kayaks with all the trimmings available for guests.
Although undiscovered and unspoiled, Cat Island boasts a few small
resorts and several restaurants, with cuisine ranging from excellent
to good hearty island fare.
Our on-site manager at nearby Pigeon Cay Beach Club can help with
logistics and answer any questions.
activities and attractions in Bahamas Caribbean
Warm, crystal clear waters and powder-sand beaches make the Bahamas
a water lovers paradise. Some of the best snorkling and diving in
the world can be found in reefs just off the deserted beaches of the
north and east sides of Cat Island. Explore miles of secluded
shorelines by kayak; enjoy world-class charter bone fishing or deep
sea fishing, or fish right off the beach; rent a car or bikes and
explore the countryside for blue holes, caves, and plantation
ruins. Climb Mt Alvernia and explore the Hermitage, built on the
highest point in the Bahamas. Pick up some wonderful woven baskets
and hats still made by hand by crafters on the island.
Cat Island is one hour by air from Ft Lauderdale or Nassau. Rumor
has it that Columbus first made landfall here; Sidney Poitier was
born and raised here. Only 50 miles long and very narrow, with one
road north to south and no traffic lights, unspoiled, secluded,
picturesque and undiscovered Cat Island is the perfect quiet getaway
destination.
