vacation rental description

Only minutes away from world-class speckled trout fishing waters, our comfortable 3 bedroom vacation home is located on the Apalachee Bay in Shell Point, Florida (30 miles south of Tallahassee). This roomy 1624 sq. ft. modular home is located in gated Paradise Village of Shell Point, which has a community swimming pool and tennis court, and a public beach within walking distance. Right out our back door is a large boat dock (with ample room for two boats) on a deep-water canal, which is convenient to a nearby boat launch. Our living quarters feature 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, family room, dining room, laundry room, fully equipped kitchen and screened-in porch. The family room is a large, open area furnished with a fully stocked entertainment center (42" Flatscreen TV, VCR, DVD, 100 Disc CD), comfortable den furniture and pool table. You can shoot pool and watch TV, while enjoying a beautiful view of the canal from 2 sliding glass doors that lead to the large screened-in porch. Our accommodations will sleep 10 people comfortably, and consist of a king size bed, queen size bed, 2 twin size beds, 2 queen sleeper sofas in the den and a twin rollaway. Perfect for a family or a few guys who just want to fish.

Shell Point is a small, quiet community located in Wakulla County, one of Florida's best-kept secrets and part of Florida's forgotten coast. Besides offering the best flats fishing anywhere, it's ideal for sightseeing and photography. Wakulla Springs State Park, one of the largest fresh water springs in the world, is only 10 minutes away. Wakulla Springs was the site for filming the early Tarzan movies, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Airport 77. From the river boat and glass bottom boat tours, you can see alligators, many species of water fowl, fish, turtles, snakes, and deer, in and among the crystal clear waters emerging from the depth of the springs. They also have a swimming area, with a diving platform. The St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge (10 minutes away), which features the St. Marks Lighthouse, offers a habitat for all kinds of Florida wildlife. (Bald eagles have been spotted here and at Spring Creek - so keep your eyes peeled!) For a close-up, hands-on examination of marine life, you can check out the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab in Panacea, which is 20 minutes away. Also, the Tallahassee Museum of History and Natural Science is about 30 minutes away, and offers a look at Florida's wildlife in a natural setting.

There are other recreational interests in the immediate area. For the tennis buff, there are 6 lighted tennis courts in Medart at Wakulla High School. For the fisherman, the fishing is as good as it gets and there is an assortment of USCG licensed captains that will be more than willing to book a charter and take you out into the bay for a fishing experience that you will never forget. Shell Point is a great place for windsurfing and hosts several Regattas each year. For the beach enthusiast, nearby beaches include St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park and St. George's Island, which are regularly voted into the top ten beaches in the world (an hour to an hour and a half drive). Shell Point Beach is about a block from "Already Gone". It is a very, very small beach located on the bay, which means that the only waves that you will see will be on a very windy day. It doesn't compare to the other two beaches mentioned earlier, but it is very convenient and a great place to kick back and enjoy the abundant wildlife in and surrounding the bay, along with breathtaking sunsets. For those who enjoy great seafood, Angelo's in Panacea (20 minutes away) is one of the finest renowned seafood restaurants anywhere - located right on the water. Nearby Spring Creek Restaurant (less than 10 minutes away) also boasts delicious seafood, including soft shell crab, along with a casual down-home atmosphere. If you decide to rent with us, we will send you a list of all of the nearby restaraunts, along with our personal rating on each one.

Shell Point is located between St. Marks and Panacea, and is only 30 miles south of Tallahassee (Florida's capital). Tallahassee has all of the conveniences of a big city - malls, restaurants, museums, parks, airport - and is well known for being the home of Florida State University (FSU) and Florida A&M University (FAMU).

If you are interested in fishing (trout, Spanish mackerel, redfish, tarpon, cobia, flounder, grouper, black bass ... it's saltwater fishing, so the list goes on), boating, or ... if you just want to escape to a relaxing, laid back paradise; yet, be able to take a short ride into the city, this is the perfect location for you.

Sorry, but we do not accept renters under the age of 25.

Great Location for Family Gatherings!

Review submitted: January 26, 2014   Date of arrival: December 19, 2013

We have stayed for many years at Already Gone for Christmas, Easter and occasionally for July 4th -Shell Point fireworks are the best! Deb Edwards is the best landlady that one could wish. We have also rented Pirate Point, Bare Footing and a townhouse in Panacea. Deb's properties are consistently well maintained, are updated when needed and are roomy, comfortable and well located. Any problems are quickly and easily resolved, the nationwide free phoning is a marvelous bonus and the large Florida room at Already Gone has seen many a family festivity and sheltered us in sad times. Thanks, Deb, for becoming a friend. We are grateful that daughter Chris originally "found" you and persuaded us that we would love to stay at Shell Point! Everything we hoped for and more!

Review submitted: April 17, 2013   Date of arrival: April 7, 2013

This place was awesome and it was everything we had hoped for! Clean and well stocked is understatement. Everything was perfect from the screened in porch to the pillow top matress on the mastee bed. We caught tons of fish so having your own dock with a fish cleaning station was a plus. We have been coming to this area for 4 years and this was our first stay here. Best trip ever. It sure didn't hurt that Deborah the owner was on the ball with timely and helpful information. She even called me the day after we left to let us know my friend had left her kindle and it would be in the mail that day. If you enjoy fishing or quiet time on the coast with wild life this is your place. We saw dolphins feeding on mullet at the end of the canal and bald eagles on the side of the road. Perfect vacation!!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, pet-friendly, sight seeing

Owners response: Thanks for the wonderful review. Jerry and I love sharing our "Home away from Home" with others and strive to keep everything clean, comfortable and convenient. I wish that more folks like you would come and enjoy our peaceful paradise. I look forward to your next visit.

WOW What a wonderful little piece of Paradise

Review submitted: November 19, 2011   Date of arrival: November 11, 2011

WOW! What a peaceful, wonderful visit we had at "Already Gone Fishing". This place is awesome. Put the boat in at St.Marks, and caught a lot of trout (none over 14 inches), mullet, flounder, blue crab, sea ell. Didn't matter they were not limit size, loved the fight, they pull like crazy. We could not access the boat ramp at Shell Point, they had a locked cable across the ramp.

We enjoyed fishing and crabbing off the dock even though nothing was biting. The weather was absolutely perfect. Monday it was 84 degrees, we walked to the beach and around the resort. A wonderful way to celebrate my 50th birthday, My son and his family could not make the trip (and that was the one and only disappointment). Could not ask for much more...I am a beach and water nut, and love to fish.

The house is great, fully stocked and so roomy...just like in all the photos. We grilled, played pool each night. Oh, and the screend porch was my favorite spot. We ate breakfast outside each morning. Wonderful start to each and every day!

We would recommend this place to everyone. We are already talking about our next visit. Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise with us.
