Cute place, but....

The reservation process was excellent and easy. The gentleman at the office was funny and flexible with our schedule. We rented the one bedroom, one bath suite that was beautifully decorated and clean, but not well-maintained. It's one of thos situation where "don't judge a book by its cover".

This is our 3rd property we rented from this website and it was not up to our standard - or for the money spent. We rented this place during a holiday weekend, so the rates were a premium, but not an issue for us. We expected to get what we paid for, but was disappointed.

I guess what was more disappointing was that the management company did not want to return on night stay for all our troubles.

What went wrong?

1. Microwave was LOUD! We had a newborn on this trip. When we used the microwave one morning, it was so loud that it woke her up. When in use, you can hear it in the bathroom.

2. The bed was way too soft! Both my husband and I woke up with backaches and sore necks. The 2nd night we slept on the floor. Our friend slept on the sofa sleeper, which had a mattress what was more uncomfortable than the bed mattress. Sad.

3. This is the most important bullet. Luckily my husband seen this type of problem before. We don't know when was the last time the place had been rented, but the shower handle (to turn on the water) has sediment buildup. On Sat night, I was the first to use it and nearly burned myself because there was NO cold water. It was a very uncomfortable shower time for me as I had to keep jumping under the showerhead to bathe and then out of it to keep cool. When done I told my husband about it. He looked at the showerhead and discovered:
a. The hot/cold water sign on the handle is backwards.
b. When turning the handle to the left, it stops. My husband said that is due to sediment - so he nudged the handle past that stop and then we got cold water.
c. This should be in instructions to renters - it is a safety issue as people can burn themselves easily under that water.

4. They gave you 2 rolls of toilet paper and 1 roll of paper towel to use for the 3-day, 2 night rental...for 3 adults!

5. The iron faceplate has burned area and should be replaced. When used it, the burned stuff rubbed onto my white shorts.
6. Lightbulb outside was burned. We had to take care of that.

7. View not "exactly" as describted.

8. We were told we have access to the gym across the street. Untrue.

Recommended for: romantic getaway
