Located in Yucatan,about a $35 taxi ride from Merida Airport, in the peaceful and friendly beach town of Progreso,where families relax at the boardwalk in the evenings enjoying the beautiful sunsets. Casa Sol Mar is a tranquil spot, centrally located, only one short block off the beach.
There are 5 one bedroom units of varying size,able to sleep between 2-4 people, making it an attractive option for singles, couples, families or groups. Progreso is a very safe place for tourists,however,Casa Sol-Mar has a locking gate for the additional security of our guests. The beach is safe for all ages and abilities of swimmers. There are many excellent beach restaurants located along the boardwalk and conveniences such as internet cafes,grocery stores, markets,banks and laundromats are all within easy walking distance. A car is not necessary, however there is secured parking for 1 vehicle, and extra street parking available if you wish to have a vehicle. An excellent travel agency, with English speaking agents is located just up the street, they can arrange tours or car rentals for you.

Each tiled floor, air-conditioned Suite has a kitchen with rangetop,microwave,fridge,toaster,coffee maker,kettle,oven,bottled water dispenser and all cutlery, dishes, pots and utensils.
Bed linens and 2 towels/person are provided each week, with the exception of long term rentals. The Suites are cleaned weekly, (except for long term rentals), although additional maid service can be provided for a fee.
All Suites have Air Conditioning, ceiling or floor fans,cable T.V, some have dvd players.There is high speed wireless internet service for the use of guests with their own laptops and also a central courtyard with a small pool,loungers, barbecue and communal kitchen.
                             All for your comfort and enjoyment.

There is a beautiful, safe swimming beach with a boardwalk, about 80 footsteps from Casa Sol Mar.
Of course, there are many Mayan ruin sites nearby, the most famous being Chichen Itza, (a 90-100 minute drive away, or by bus leaving from Progreso).
The nearest ruins are at Dzibilchalton and Uxmal, after which, for a unique swimming experience head to the nearby cenote, (sink hole).
The colonial city of Merida is 30 minutes away, with buses leaving continuously throughout the day.

There is a fabulous Hacienda tour at Sotuta de Peon, located south of Merida, just over an hour's drive away, where you can see how sisal is made and woven, ending with a swim in a fabulous underground cenote.

Local fisherman give tours of the mangroves located in San Crisanto,about 18 miles east of Progreso. These tours are done in non-powered boats, and include a stop at a cenote for a swim.

50% non-refundable deposit is due at time of booking, with the exception of long term bookings, which have their own payment schedule. If cancelled, deposit may be applied to a new booking within the 12 month period Remaining 50% is due 2 weeks prior to arrival.
