Vacation Rental Description

The "Villa Santa Rita" house is a small, welcoming house located at the border of a fishermen town  
called Chuburná, a non-tourist area; it is very quiet and private. Bordering another beautiful beach  
called Chelem. The gentle, warm ocean is inviting and refreshing. The cooling ocean breeze is the  
perfect air-conditioner.  
Enjoy coffee or beer at the terrace, stroll by the beach, read a book. Spend a day or two swimming off  
your own beach, go fishing, or just relax in a hammock all day long, enjoying the magnificent views and  
tropical breeze.  
Head into town and have an elegant dinner in Mérida, go see a movie at a modern stadium-style theater,  
go shopping at the mall, go dancing until dawn, or head out for an adventure to see some Mayan ruins.

Vacation Rental Amenities

The house is perfect for someone seeking peace and tranquility, for people who want to rest. 
It has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and the other with 2 individual beds. 
Sheets and towels are furnished. The bathroom is equipped with hot and cold running water. 
The well-stocked kitchen has a stove top, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, juicer, toaster oven,  
dishes, and all the necessary cooking utensils. Bed linens, towels. There is a small boombox to play  
CDs or the radio. Color T.V. and DVD player. 
If you want someone to cook typical regional dishes or to do the cleaning, we can provide a cleaning  
lady. We just need you to ask in advance. This service would have an extra cost.

Activities and Attractions

Nearby Cities: 
Progreso 
A 15-minute drive. It has a beautiful sea-wall with restaurants overlooking the 5-mile, longest pier  
in the world. 
 
Chixchulub 
A historic place for all human kind, where the meteorite which ended the dinosaurs fell. 
 
Mérida 
A 35-minute drive. The most beautiful colonial city in Mexico, it is known as "the white city", not  
only for its many white limestone buildings, but because its streets, plazas, and parks are cleaned  
daily. You will find familiar conveniences at Costco, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Sears, OfficeMax, Office  
Depot, Home Depot, Friday's, Subway, Pizza Hut, Chili's and Bennigans. 
 
Golf 
Club de Golf Yucatan offers monthly memberships (up to three months) enabling you to use their  
facilities such as equipment rental, carts, and caddies. You may also enjoy the open or covered  
tennis courts, a large pool, gym, steam rooms, and a restaurant and bar open for breakfast, lunch,  
and dinner. There is also a putting green, driving range, and a pro shop. 
 
Movies 
VIP Movie Theater (Mérida) - Gran Plaza Mall (serving food and wine to your plush seat), as well as  
24 theaters featuring stadium-style seating. 
 
Flamingoes 
Uaymitun. A 20-minute drive. Flamingo sanctuary where you can watch these magnificent pink birds in  
their natural habitat. The flamingo-sanctuary wetlands along the Gulf coast contain a unique shallow- 
water estuary where freshwater from cenotes (natural wells) blends with saltwater, creating the  
perfect feeding grounds for flamingoes.  
Celestun National Wildlife Refuge 
a 1 ½- hour drive. A flamingo sanctuary. Touring this area on a boat is relaxing and rewarding. 
 
Spanish: 
Learn the language or perfect your Spanish. There are 4 language schools in Merida, offering weekly  
crash courses in Spanish, as well as private tutors. 
 
Mayan Ruins 
Dzibilchaltun. A 25-minute drive. This Maya site, now a national park, is 9 miles north of Merida  
along the road to Progreso. Here you'll find Hispanic ruins, nature trails, a cenote, and the Museum  
of the Maya. 
 
Chichen Itza. 2 ½ - hour drive. The largest Mayan ruin in Yucatan. Not to be missed. 
Valladolid - 25 miles from Chichen Itzá, a quiet, charming colonial town with a pleasant central  
square. It features two eery cenotes. 
Uxmal - 50 miles South from Mérida. Smaller than Chichen Itzá, but architecturally more striking and  
mysterious. Watch the sound and light show at night. 
Tulúm - Famous ruins in the Caribbean, near to Cancún only 3 hours from Mérida.
