Vacation Rental Description

Mountain View Hideaway is an A-Frame cabin boasting one bedroom, one 
bath, with  a sleeping loft, woodburning stove, large deck on a 
private lot with grand mountain views and complete privacy. The 
cabin is in the neighborhood known as Kentwood in the Pines and is 
approximately one mile from the historic town of Julian.  

Julian is in the mountains north-east of San Diego where the 
elevation is 4200 feet.  It is one of the few places in Southern 
California where there are four seasons including autumn with the 
leaves changing color, and winter where it occasionally snows.  The 
population of Julian is approxiately 1500 full-time residents with 
almost 40% of the homes used as vacation homes. Main Street is 
approximately 3 blocks long and boasts many quality restaurants, 
gift stores, two grocery stores, one bank with an ATM, and one gas 
station.  

Julian is a historic gold mining town and has kept its turn of the 
century wild-west flavor. The historic town is one and one-half hour 
drive from San Diego bay and the airport, but an eternity away in 
lifestyle.

Activities and Attractions

Walking around Julian and visiting the historic houses and shops is 
probably the number one activity in Julian. Step back one hundred 
fifty years as you walk around town.  Learn Julian's history at the 
museum which is filled with information, memorabilia, and photos of 
past residents.  Check out the old jail and take the gold-mine tour 
and walk into the 1860's and see how man worked the mountain and 
believed striking it rich would change your life. If walking is 
truly your love there are many trails from easy to difficult. If 
fishing is what you like; Lake Cuyamaca is open year round for 
fishing and has boat rentals. 

The number two activity in Julian is eating pie.  There are many 
restaurants that make and sell apple pies.  Apples became a staple 
in town when the mining industry began to dry-up.  Apple orchards 
became the substitute industry and are still thriving in Julian.  

Check with the Chamber of Commerce on the corner at the town hall
and participate in the many seasonal activities from the Blue Grass 
Festival to the famous Julian Apple Days.  Of course, the activity 
the residents recommend is taking the time to enjoy the beauty of 
the mountains, the stars at night, the clean air, and listening to 
nothing.  Yes, nothing! You won't believe the "quiet."  Slowing down 
to a calmer way of life is an activity onto itself.
