traveler reviews for this pigeon forge cabin rental

great family vacation-group of friends would enjoy

Review submitted: March 22, 2014   Date of arrival: March 18, 2014

LOCATION: It is in a safe and comfortable-feeling area. It is the perfect distance from the parkway strip--just a couple turns, being about a 5 min drive. It was very convenient for trips to the shops, parks, and tons of cool places for all ages, but still felt like a woodsy off-road cabin which was great.

THE CABIN:The whole family, ranging from a baby to 10-years old, young adults, and older adults, loved the cabin! the cabin was very clean, tidy, and very well-stocked. They were tons of towels and high quality dishes and pans in the kitchen. We used the grill to bbq multiple times. We all enjoyed the hottub, played on the pool table, and watched tv as well (which were larger than the ones shown in the pictures..i believe both were flat screens as well). There's also a tv in the master bedroom upstairs. The other king size bedroom is on the main floor next to the kitchen and another bathroom. The two queen bedrooms are downstairs next to the downstairs living room and 3rd bathroom. The bathroom on the main floor and downstairs were spacious. I didn't see the master bathroom. Easy check out procedure.

THINGS TO DO: There are tons of family talent shows, dinner shows, and comedies, as well as mini-theme parks, independent fun things like the Jurassic Boat Ride, ziplining, horseback riding, and tons of places to go on helicopter rides. $9.98 or less was a great souvineer shop for t-shirts and coffee mugs. The candy shop by the old mill restaurant on Old Mill Rd has really good malt balls.

One tip for the master bedroom jacuzzi: NEVER add any sort of soap or bubble bath to the whirlpool tub. The bubbles way over-multiply.

One bad thing: the tv in the downstairs living room's picture was a lot darker on the left side of the screen and had a line going through the top part of the screen, We experienced this type of problem with 2 of the dvds we rented, but not the 3rd or the Wii. Not sure if it was the tv or the dvds.

Owners response: Thank you for the wonderful review. I am glad you had fun. Please come visit the beautiful mountains again.

Thanks for letting us know about the TV screen.... we'll check it out.

DAVID,
WE DID HAVE A GREAT TIME. ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE WERE LESS OF US THAN EXPECTED, MOST GOT THEIR OWN ROOMS. YOUR CABIN IS BEAUTIFUL AND THE VIEWS WERE AMAZING. WE LOVED THE FOG ROLLING IN OUR LAST MORNING THERE AFTER THE RAIN THAT NIGHT. MY DAUGHTER TOOK SO MANY PICTURES AND THEY ARE ALL OVER FACEBOOK. (YOUR WELCOME, FREE ADVERTISING) SINCE I DID NOT SEND MY PHONE NUMBER AT THE BEGINNING WE HAD A LITTLE TROUBLE GETTING IN BUT SETH WAS GREAT IN GETTING THAT TAKEN CARE OF IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES. THE ONLY THING I NOTICED THAT COULD USE SOME ATTENTION ARE THE ROCKING CHAIRS ON THE BACK DECKS. SOME OF THE SCREWS ARE WORKING THEIR WAY OUT AND ONE OF THEM THE ROCKER FOOT IS ABOUT TO FALL OFF. WE JUST MADE SURE NO ONE SAT IN THAT ONE. OTHER THAN THAT EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. WE WOULD LOVE TO COME BACK IF WE ARE IN THE AREA AGAIN AND I WILL DEFINITELY SAVE YOUR INFORMATION. THANKS AGAIN FOR A WONDERFUL TRIP. PATTI

The good, the bad and the ugly. Plus overview.

Review submitted: December 29, 2013   Date of arrival: December 19, 2013

The GOOD:
The cabin is roomy and close to the parkway and activites. Well equipped kitchen. Appliances in working order.

The BAD: Random order with key words in capitols.

BROKEN window blinds.
Very very DIRTY windows.
Unable to open windows on main level.
Couch on main level BROKEN DOWN and needs replaced. We placed blankets under the pancake thin cushions for comfort.
Couch on lower levelin POOR CONDITION: stuffing coming out of back cushions.
Bathtub on lowere level had BROKEN drain plug and could not hold water.
LITTER outside of cabin; paper cups, bottles and cans.
DEAD BATTERIES in TV remotes. We used batteries from DVR remotes and also used our own batteries.
Several light bulbs BURNED OUT.
DOG FECES on lower level deck. Hubby disposed of it!
No holiday decorations. I paid the higher holiday rate in December and expected
a tree or at least a wreath. Other cabins were decorated.
*No hair dryer-Yikes.Smallest bars of soap I have ever seen.Watered down dish and hand soap.
No welcome phone call or welcome note from owner. However a note placed on fridge with CHECKOUT REQUIREMENTS noted upon arrival.

THE UGLY:
The community is comprised of attractive cabins built on a very steep hillside. Mimimal parking in front of cabin. Cabin may be hard to reach in bad weather due to location. I am sure the view most of the year is spectacular. However with no greenery or leaves in winter, the eye is drawn to all the asphalt.

OVERALL:
This cabin could once again be lovely if the owner put effort towards the delayed maintenance. A thourough deep cleaning is needed. Also, good customer service is a must. A welome call or note goes a long, long way in making guests feel welcome. Lastly, I have rented many cabins in the past and have never written a negative review. I hope the owner and future travelers will find my review beneficial.

Owners response: Thank you for your review. While hard to hear it is very helpful. We live out of state and have had nothing but five star reviews in the past. I had no idea of the problems.

Fortunately January is a slow month for us. We will jump on these problems next week to assure our cabin is once again a lovely place for our guests.
