Peaceful Bliss

Looking for a get-a-way to please everyone in the family? One that offers tranquility, quiet places and privacy? Look no further!!!! This unassuming home is right in the middle of some of the most beautiful geographically unique mountains that the Monongahela National Forest has to offer. The house itself is well away from the neighbors so enjoy the quiet, the rooms offer lots of space for a large family to spread out as well as get together to enjoy each other's company. We had from age 4 to 64 in our group and everyone was happy!! There's so much to do outdoors and in, you'll not be able to take it all in on your first visit; you'll definitely want to comeback. We hoped for a great winter vacation, but the weather was milder than expected for December so we were happy for the pool table, hot tub and BIG kitchen table suitable for a large game of dominoes or a busy craft project. If you're into geocaching you'll be in paradise even if you don't find the caches the scenery is worth the hike! We also enjoyed a day skiing at Timberline just a short drive from the house. The best feature of this house is the owner's willingness to accommodate pets; Best vacation ever b/c we had our lovely goldens with us - no kennel takes as good of care of your pets as you!

More Beautiful than I Imagined!

This home's secluded location and the property itself surpassed any expectations we had. The natural beauty surrounded us and there was much to explore without leaving the property. We traveled with four girls ranging in age 12-1. We never once heard an "I'm bored" the entire 3 days/nights we were there. The pond is well stocked, even the 4 year old had no trouble catching several fish in less than an hour. The streams/waterfalls were beautiful. Our favorite was to hike up the mountain behind the house just to enjoy the view and the wildflowers growing there. I would love to see the wild roses in bloom up there but we were early in season.

The house itself was homey and comfortable. There was plenty of room for us (three adults and four children). The kitchen had all the appliances and utensils need to make all our meals and the dishes were very nice. The house, much like the property, is not overly manicured. If you are looking for a brand new, immaculate home, this is not the one for you.It is nothing like a resort. It felt like a home, not a hotel; we all really liked that. The foosball table, pool table and hot tub were wonderful as well. There was something to do right up to bedtime.

We did travel to Black Water Falls and Seneca Caverns. Both were about a 45 minute scenic drive through the mountains. Just beautiful drives! Black Water was breathtakingly beautiful and the cavern was exciting, even for the girls. They loved wearing hardhats and exploring the cave. The staff there were all very friendly and helpful.

Mike and Shana were quick to respond to all my emails and most helpful and friendly.

We had a fantastic family vacation and we have every intention of returning.

Not enough words of praise!

This property was beyond beilef! We had 6 adults and 3 children in our group. The property was clean, everything provided that was mentioned, well maintained, excellent. I spent most of my vacation on the porch watching my grandchildren fishing in the ponds. They are close enough to yell and the children can hear you. One night we had a campfire by the pond. Every morning we would wake up to find deer on the property. Even saw a black bear on the mountain behind us. Had fun watching the hummingbirds that were around the feeder. There was a shuffel board and pool table in the basement...not used much, too busy being outside. The tv was very nice, very impressed with it. Again, not used too much, too much to do outside. My son and daughter took their family to some caves close by. Had a wondeful time. My husband and I went on a train ride. So nice and relaxing. I am writing this at the end of December, we vacationed in August. My grandson just told me how much he enjoyed our vacation. He is 10 and wants to go back. In fact, we all want to go back. Our only problem is we have added to our family and are more than the limit of people. There is a great place to eat at the intersection of the main road. Not far from towns, grocery, restaurants. We chose this property because it was in the country and away from everything and because of the ponds on the property, so, shopping was not a priority. Again, I cannot say enough about this property. If you have any questions, contact the owner. I have told him that we would love to give a recommendation to anyone. I also checked that this was good for people with disabilities. There are two floors and no handicap entrance. But it is quite moveable around inside. I would recommend this for handicap because the of the quietness and peacefulness that is available. Also, if the person can get around at all, the fishing. At the risk of sounding trite, Almost Heaven, West Virginia! That was our vacation.
