Vacation Rental Description

Our completely renovated Maine fisherman's cottage sits on 1 3/4 
acres with 350' of rocky and sandy shoreline with open views of 
Pigeon Hill Bay, Bois Bubert Island, Petit Manan lighthouse, and the 
Atlantic Ocean.  Located just 30 minutes north of Ellsworth on a 
thin finger of land that juts out in to the Atlantic, this two 
bedroom cottage sleeps two (full bed) in a first floor master 
bedroom (pictured below); two (twin beds) in a second floor bedroom 
with a view of the bay; and two in a comfortable queen size pull-out 
sleeper in the Great Room.  Spacious full bath with shower/tub 
combination adjoins master bedroom with secondary access through 
kitchen.

Kitchen is fully equipped for your stay and includes a full size 
refrigerator; full size electric range and oven; microwave; toaster 
oven; and coffee maker.  Adjacent separate dining area, with 
unobstructed views of the bay, provides pleasant casual dining or 
romantic setting for elegant dining.  

Great Room verandah is adorned with 25' of continuous windows over- 
looking the bay and north Atlantic. Watch the lobster boats haul in 
their daily catch in Pigeon Hill Bay while a Great Blue Heron fishes 
for dinner in the beach surf.  100 Channel satellite TV provided for 
those rare instances when guests can drag themselves away from the 
spectacular views and quiet serenity of Petit Manan.  Petit Manan is 
an enchanted place that you will wish to return to year after year. 

A special treat for birders is Petit Manan National Wildlife.  The 
Refuge contains 43 islands, including Petit Manan Island and 2/3 of 
Bois Bubert Island, and 3 coastal parcels totaling more than 7,000 
acres.  The Refuge is home to more than 325 bird species -- more 
than any of the other 540 U.S. Wildlife Refuges -- and 310 of those 
species have been identified on and around Petit Manan Island.  
Frequently seen are common and Artic terns, eiders, puffins, black 
guillemots, razorbills, murres, and laughing gulls, among many 
others.  Roseate terns and puffins, considered "threatened" species, 
both have small breeding populations on the Island. 
 
One of the three coastal parcels of the Refuge is 1/2 mile from the 
cottage at the end of our surfaced road.  Eagles, ospreys, 
cormorants, herons, shorebirds, seals, porpoise, grouse, partridge, 
and numerous songbirds are regularly spotted along with porcupines, 
foxes, deer, and occasional black bear and moose. Blueberry picking 
permitted in season on 60 acres of blueberry barrens in Refuge.  
Whale watching and puffin tours available in area. 

Guests must only supply their own bed linens and towels.  A generous 
supply of cotton, wool, and electric blankets is provided for your 
comfort.  For your enjoyment while visiting Downeast Maine and the 
Atlantic shore, our cottage has no telephone.  (There is a telephone 
available nearby for emergencies.  Owners maintain a small studio 
apartment above adjacent garage for their occasional use during the 
season.)

our cottage has no telephone.  (There is one available nearby. 
Owners maintain a studio apartment above garage on the property for 
their occasional use during the season.)

Guests must supply only their own bed linens and towels. A generous 
supply of cotton, wool, and electrict blankets and pillows is 
provided. 

Local shopping and services -- 7 miles (Milbridge).  Modern urban 
supermarket (Shaw's and Hannaford) with deli, gourmet foods -- 30 
miles (Ellsworth).

(1/2 mile); Acadia National Park (main park, on Mt. Desert Island, 
is 45 minutes; Schoodic Point area, Acadia N.P., with coastal

Touring Downeast Maine:  Bartlett Estate winery (world famous fruit 
   wines; wine tasting; 20 mins.); McClellan Park, Milbridge, Maine

   Point (loop road, part of Acadia N. Park, Gouldsboro-25 mins.); 
   Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park (45 mins.); traditional Downeast

Vacation Rental Rates

2007 Rate Schedule:

   Early Season (April 26 - May 24, 2008): $ 700/week
   Low Season (May 24 - June 14, 2008): $ 800/week
   The Season Opens (June 14 - June 28, 2008):  $ 900/week
   Peak Season  (June 28 - August 30, 2008):  $ 975/week
   Fall/Leaf Season(August 30 - November 1, 2008):  $ 850/week
   
   Please check open and closing dates for cottage as spring, early  
summer, and fall rental dates are not always offered every year.
  

Multi-week discounts and monthly rates (28 Days)available on request.
AARP/Seniors rates available for spring and fall.  Please inquire.
Rates are for four (4) adults.  Extra Adult(s):  $ 100/week.
50% deposit required to confirm a reservation.  Small Pets Welcome.
Small Pet Fee -- $ 75.  Maine vacation rentals are now subject to 7% 
Maine Sales Tax (as of July 1, 2005).
 
Due to the popularity of our cottage, we encourage early 
reservations to insure guests obtain accommodations of their choice 
on the Maine coast.  We will gladly hold your early confirmed 
reservation for 2006 for $ 100 through January 31, 2007 when a 
further deposit equal to 1/3 of the rental fee would be due.
