The calm water of the Gulf is ideal for canoeing, kayaking or

front of the house. Trailerable
boats can be launched at a public ramp next to the east bridge.

Manasota Key is largely undiscovered and quite spectacular to

a three minute bike ride away on the southern tip of Manasota Key.
Secluded jungle trails and hidden
coves will transport you back in time. Restaurants and shopping are
located within a 15 minute drive
where you will also find golf, tennis, cinemas, and even a small
amusement park for the kids.
Further to the north are the lovely cities of Venice and Sarasota
with the Ringling Museum of Art,
Mote Marine Aquarium, many fine restaurants, and live theater
productions. Be as active or as
relaxed as you like in this little bit of paradise on the Florida
Gulf Coast! Only a two hour drive
from Orlando and just over an hour from Tampa.

for the short getaway or an
extended stay. Located next to the tarpon fishing capital of the
world, it is ideal for the fishing
enthusiast as well as those who want to shell on the beach. So... if

New Renovations Look Great

Holly (Detroit, MI)
Review submitted: December 22, 2010   Date of arrival: December 4, 2010

I had a great time! The Seahorse had just done some major renovations. It has a new screened in porch, new roof and looks great. I was a bit nervous because of a bad review, but there was a new grill and the cottage was clean and had everything we needed, phew!
It was exactly what we wanted; a beach cottage on an amazing beach. We saw dolphins and even a manatee. Walking to the restaurants at night sealed the deal. We just booked again for next spring!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, pet-friendly, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Run Down

Jacqueline (Smiths Falls, Ontario Canada)
Review submitted: July 29, 2010   Date of arrival: July 29, 2010

The location is great, wonderful beach and the restaurants are close by and we visited them often. The cottage, we had the two bedroom with the screened in area, it is totally run down. The carpets are filthy, the kitchen cupboards and drawers were dirty. The kitchen roof leaked when it rained and the screened in areas patio furniture was dirty with some of it helf together with duck tape! The outside of the cottage needs painting and repairs, the bbq was so dirty it was unusable. It's really too bad because with a cleaning and fixing up it would be a great spot.

Shabby!

Michigan Girl (St. Joseph, MI USA)
Review submitted: May 18, 2010   Date of arrival: March 1, 2010

The furnishings were worn and shabby. One chair in the living room was filthy. We covered it with a beach towel. The bedspread was ancient. The carpet was also filthy. The roof looked as though it would fall in. The one bedroom cottage was tiny and cramped for the two of us.
The location was great. Right on the beach and in walking distance to restaurants, state park and convenience store. Owners should invest a little money to make it more livable.
It's way overpriced.
