Stonybrook in Chocorua

This is an 1830s era farm house, converted into a summer home in 1895.

The home is surrounded by a large field. Beyond the field there are over 100 acres of beautiful woodland, boardered on three sides by National Forest and Conservancy property. Although this home is easily accessible from Route 16, it feels very isolated.  One river and two brooks flow through the property -- all very scenic.

Numerous hiking trails begin at the house. One hiking trail proceeds for four miles up a spectacular mountain in the White Mountain National Forest. A Nature Conservancy Preserve is about a mile away on a lovely path. The house is only a half mile from the highway and it is the only house on the road.

The owners are the fourth generation to hold this treasure. In 1997 they completed a dramatic remodel of the house. The three oldest rooms have been redecorated to reflect early twentieth century elegance. The large fireplace in the living room and parlour is original and fully functional.  This home and its surroundings are both charming and peaceful.

This is a fully furnished summer home.  Guests have full access to washer and dryer.  Our well-appointed kitchen includes a full-sized refrigerator, electric range, oven, dishwasher, many small appliances, ample cookware and dried goods.

Towels and bed linen are furnished as well.

Lovely screened porch looks out on our field. Humming birds, wild turkeys, and deer are common sightings; Moose and bears have also been seen here.

We have no television or computer here; however, plenty of board games, books, and regional travel guides are available for guests.

Water is supplied by a well on-site.

This home is not winterized. It is available for rent mid-May through mid-October.

Swimming, fly-fishing and non-motorized boating: public beach on Lake Chocoura is one mile away.

Nearby summer theatre (Barnstormers), golf, minature golf, restaurants and ropes course.

Numerous outlet stores and restaurants are only 17 miles away in North Conway. House is within convenient driving distance of the Presidential Range, Crawford
Notch, Pinkham Notch, as well as the lake country (Lake Winnepesauke).

Rates vary depending on month sought. August is the most sought after
time. September and October rates are lower than August
rates.
