The unit is professionally decorated in soft, colors and with comfortable, quality furnishings to give you a relaxed luxury-resort feeling. It is totally up-to- dated, like new, on a single level without long flights of stairs. The exterior of the Colonnade Club buildings are stucco and are painted in various pastel shades. They blend beautifully with the surrounding landscape. An exterior refurbishing project completed at the end of 1996 included new stucco, new decks, and other repairs. Continual maintenance contributes to the "like-new" appearance of the buildings. Our villa has a modern, open floor plan. The living area is made very light and bright by a 3-section sliding glass door opening onto a spacious wooden deck which gives way to the spectacular lagoon and golf course view. The living room has a large comfortable sofa and matching love seat, glassed-topped coffee and end tables, plenty of light for reading at night, a remote-control color TV, a VCR, a sterio system, and a large ceiling fan to circulate the air. The later being a highly prized feature in the South. The comfortable dining room is situated between the kitchen and the living room, providing the same beautiful view as the living room. The spacious glass-topped dinner table easily accommodates 6 people. The dining room is separated from the kitchen by a breakfast bar, with two bar stools, which extends the open floor plan and allows conversation with guests to continue as meals or beverages are prepared. Our view from within the unit is spectacular, looking over a large lagoon and one of the Shipyard golf courses. Alligators, blue herons, and white egrets frequent the lagoon and provide daily entertainment. Our villa's full kitchen has plenty of counter and cabinet space and a ceramic tiled floor. We have a large, late-model refrigerator with ice-maker, microwave oven, electric range and oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, telephone, large pantry, pots and pans, tea kettle, assorted baking and ovenware, blender, 4-slice toaster, electric coffee maker, can-opener, wine glasses, measuring cups, mixing bowls, dinnerware, glassware, coffee mugs, and anything else that you might need to feel at home in the kitchen. The door, visible at the back of the kitchen, leads to the separate laundry room, which houses a full-size washer and dryer - a must for beach and sports enthusiasts, an ironing board and iron, as well as some cleaning supplies. Other utility items include a nearly new 40 gallon hot water heater and a recently upgraded HVAC system. The master bedroom is large. The bedroom set includes a king-size bed with matching double-dresser, mirror and 2 night stands. The exceptional walk-in closet make the longer term guest or, those of us who can't seem to pack light, feel right at home. There is a large window, which shares the same spectacular view of the lagoon and golf course, and a door that opens onto the deck. The accompanying private bath has separate his-and-hers sinks. The master bedroom also has a digital clock, luggage rack, and a ceiling fan over the bed. The second bedroom has two twin beds with color-coordinated bedspreads and valence, and wooden blinds on the large window. It also has a double-dresser and night stand. Activities and AttractionsColonnade Club residents and guests have pool privileges and use of the outdoor spa. Plenty of pool chairs are available, making it easy to spend the afternoon sunbathing and reading your favorite book. The pool is quite large and is located within steps of your villa. It is nestled among the tall trees, offering selective shaded areas for those who want relief from the bright sun. Shipyard has three par-36 golf courses and golfers can pick any two for a fine day of golf. The courses have a natural setting, with lagoons, trees, and tropical vegetation visible from each hole. It is rated as one of the finest layouts on the Senior PGA Tour. There is a golf school for all ability levels for those wanting to begin the game or sharpen their skills. Also, Hilton Head has numerous golf courses available to guests. Your check-in package will have coupons for discounts at some of them. The Shipyard Racquet Club was named by Tennis Magazine as one of the "50 greatest U.S. Tennis Resorts". It has 11 well-kept Har-tru courts, 6 hard courts, and 3 covered courts for inclement weather. The outdoor courts are nestled among gorgeous shade trees and tropical vegetation, have water fountains and little gazebos for relaxing. The world-famous Van der Meer tennis staff is available for lessons and clinics, or you can play at your leisure from morning until late evening, as many of the courts have excellent lights. The pro shop will help arrange matches for you, as well. The tennis courts are only a few minutes away by bike, or a short 7 minute walk. Shipyard property owners and renters have access to a beautiful, private white-sand beach that goes on for miles and miles. The beach was renourished in 1998 with tons of sand. For beach lovers, it is a picture-perfect paradise. Beach umbrellas and chairs are available for rent, or you can bring your own like most people do. The closest beach access to Colonnade Club is near the Crowne Plaza Resort, which is a 2-minute bike ride or a short 7-10 minute walk from the unit. If you haven't experienced the hard-packed sand of the South Carolina shore yet, you are in for a treat. It is easy to jog and ride bikes on the beach, as well as walk for hours admiring the gorgeous view of the ocean and the condos and homes along it's shore.
