La Casa Rosada/old colonial house/centro historico in San Cristobal

Enjoy a peaceful stay in a historic colonial house in the heart of San
Cristobal de las Casas. The Casa Rosada is a protected historic building and has been tastefully converted into two private apartments, preserving their original old brick
floors and massive adobe walls. They are both have their own large garden space, but
at the same time are located just a five minute walk from the colorful
local food market, and half a block from the famous church of Santo
Domingo. We welcome families with children and can supply an extra bed.

Both apartments have a large open plan kitchen, living room and a
bedroom and bathroom. Each apartment is connected to its own garden.
The rear apartment has a private outdoor patio space that looks out
onto a large garden. They have carved wood colonial style furniture and are
decorated with colourful local textiles. The kitchens are fully
equipped. If there is anything you need we will do our best to get it for you. There are gas heaters and open log fires and we supply firewood free of charge. Whilst being perfectly comfortable, they are not modern apartments having brick floors and thick adobe walls, but are more suitable for visitors who enjoy the historic character and charm. During the Summer months there is a heavy rainfall in San Cristobal which can make things a bit damp. There is plenty of sunshine and it is warm.  The winters can be chilly at night, but very sunny in the daytime. Both apartments have wireless internet connection.

We supply firewood but ask you to be careful in you use of this resource.  There is an extra charge for extra wood. We are sorry to have to do this but if there is no restraint it is difficult to control consumption which is expensive and un ecological. For longer lets we do not provide a free cleaning service but can arrange it according to your requirements.

San Cristobal is a fascinating city. Ancient Mayan culture jostles side by side with modern life. You can enjoy visiting local communities and finding out about village life. Bicycles can be rented and there is plenty of opportunity for walking and horseback riding.
You can sign up for Spanish lessons or Mexican Cookery classes. The
town is popular with tourists and has a wide variety of restaurants
and bars offering international and Mexican cuisine. You are also not
far from the Lacandon Selva and Agua Azul and Palenque.

All of the following prices are in U.S. dollars, and are effective
January 1, 2009*.

High season prices: Our high season begins December 1 and runs through
March 31, and includes July/August and Semana Santa (Easter Week).
Front Apartment: $750/month, $300/week, and $60/day
Rear Apartment (private porch): $800/month, 350/week, and 65/day

Low season prices: Our low season begins April 1 and runs through June30; it also includes the fall season September 1 - November 30.
Front Apartment: $700/month, $280/week, and $50/day
Rear Apartment (private porch): $750/month, $300/week, and $60/day

To make a reservation we charge a 25% non refundable deposit and the balance to be paid 6 weeks before arrival.
