Striking Cabin on Burton, Perfect - Young and Old in Lake Burton

Welcome to the home of the Allen family.

 Once you drive down the gravel drive into the woods surrounding this cabin, you will feel as if you have stepped out of the hurried bustle of the "real world" and into a world of total relaxation.

The Allens originally purchased a one room hunting cottage on 4 acres of wooded land with Lake Burton lot number 35, in the early 1950s.  Over the last 60 years the family has added rooms and even floors, using natural elements such as stone fireplaces, tongue and groove walls and a one-of-a-kind, handmade, wooden spiral staircase.

 The unusually large lot provides for a level of privacy unparalleled anywhere else on Lake Burton.

Come in and you will immediately feel at home surrounded by comfortable furniture, antiques and quilts lovingly collected by Oma Allen over the years.

 Four bedrooms and a sleeping loft  provide beds for 10 with window seats and an artist made day bed that can sleep an additional 3 people.

  The kitchen is the largest room in the house and definitely encourages gathering with 2 large lounging chairs and a kitchen table that will seat 8 to 10 people.  Enjoy the breath taking view of the lake and mountains as you enjoy eating your "catch of the day" or playing board games with your family.

Start your day with coffee on the porch and then walk to the hand stacked rock wall and step into the water of your own private cove.  The cove stays shallow, 1 to 3 feet, for 20 to 30 feet making it an ideal swimming area for small children.

  The long deck walk and large deck in deep water are perfect for watercraft, so  bring your own boat, or rent our pontoon or SeaDoo.

  The deck by the boathouse makes watching over the young children in the shallow water easy and enjoyable for all.

You will find a wonderful variety of tubes, rafts and water toys in the boathouse to entertain one and all.

  There is also a wonderful collection of fishing poles and supplies so you can catch your own dinner!

When you need a break from the sun, enjoy playing ping pong, Foosball or vintage air hockey in the game room above the boathouse or relax on the docked pontoon boat and enjoy the shade while reading your favorite book or borrow one from the extensive library in the cabin!

Once evening falls, or on the occasional rainy afternoon, you can enjoy watching direct TV on one of two televisions.  There is also a smaller tv in one of the main floor bedrooms that you can use to hook up your video game system.

Wi-Fi is available if you feel the need to check on the real world with your laptop.

 When it is time for bed, you can choose from 4 bedrooms.

 There is a queen bedroom and a bedroom with 2 twins on the main floor along with a custom made day bed constructed by a local craftsman.  There are 1 1/2 bathrooms on the main floor  for your convenience.

 Once you climb the beautiful, handmade wooden spiral staircase to the second floor, you will find two lovely bedrooms, each with 2 twin beds, connected by a large bathroom.  The beds can be pushed together to make a king bed and sheets are available if desired.

Each of the bedrooms are furnished with gorgeous antiques, lovingly collected by three generations of the Allen family.

 There is also a loft room above the sunny living room that has a day bed with a trundle and a smaller single cot with mattress. Fall asleep to the sound of crickets and frogs and wake refreshed and ready for another day of fun in the water or exploring the shops and restaurants in nearby Helen and Clayton.  There is even an old-timely drive in movie theater in near by Tiger.

If you are not an experienced boater, but would like to enjoy tubing, water skiing or knee boarding, owner, Mark Allen is available to tour you around the lake in either the pontoon or speed boat.  Please make arrangements in advance with Mark.

Visit  the Allen's cabin  for your next vacation and you will not only leave relaxed and refreshed, you will want to stay forever!

Lots of floats you can use and we even provide a few fishing poles if you want to catch some Bass or Brim.

Nice swing down by the lake as well as a hammock if you just want to relax in the shade with a good book or take a nap. Lots of dock space and recliners if you want to get a tan.

Large gas grill for cookouts.

Too many things to do to list them all here. We have a book on waterfalls if that is your thing.  Helen is a great place to go for the day or just get a float, drink a cold beer  and read a good book and chill.  We have hundreds of paperbacks for your reading pleasure.
