We are excited to be offering this authentic North woods bungalow as a new Anchorage vacation home rental
property. For the tourist, Moosewood is just a short drive away from shopping, airports, downtown, and the
Seward Highway. For the naturalist, Moosewood is located on a dead-end street on over an acre of private
manicured lawns and old-growth birches and pine trees. Moosewood was built for the outdoor lover, and
outdoor amenities include wrap-around decking with lounge furniture, barbeque grill, and hot tub.
You will love how easily this house flows to outdoor living. Just walk out the long, raspberry-lined driveway and
you will enter Anchorage's best kept secret, the Ruth Arcand Park. Over 300 acres of original forest and miles of
multi-use trails are perfect for walking, jogging, biking, and horse-back riding. Be looking for moose, coyotes,
bear, hawks, owls, eagles, rabbits...and horses. Ruth Arcand Park is home to the five acre Chamberlain
Equestrian Center and the Anchorage Horse Council, and is the hub of equestrian activities all summer long. The
Ruth Arcand Park will take several days to discover.
Three quarters of a mile away by bicycle path or car are the Bicentennial and Campbell Creek Parks, which
connect to the Chugach State Park and the wilderness beyond. Also multi-use parks, you will need the entire
summer (or winter) to fully explore.
Moosewood house was among the first houses built in Anchorage, and used to sit on what is now the heart of
downtown. It was relocated to this property in the early 1970's to make room for the high rises that exist
today. The wood-beamed ceiling, cabinetry, and hand-pegged pine floors in the vaulted kitchen and dining room
are original to the structure.
Moosewood is a well-crafted 1400 square foot bungalow designed for easy and comfortable living. Its rooms
are not large, but are adequately sized and comfortably appointed. The house will comfortably sleep six adults
with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and has a sofa bed. Rest, relaxation, and recreation are our goals at
Moosewood. Each bed features a Nova foam therapeutic mattress. If you have never slept on this type of bed
before, be prepared for the best sleep of your life.
Additionally, a recently remodeled private (detached) one bedroom suite (with king-sized bed) is available and
sleeps 2-4 additional guests. This unit has a sofa bed in the living room, and is offered first to guests reserving
the main house, but may be rented individually on an as-available basis. Please inquire for rates on this suite.
To ensure that your stay is an enjoyable one, a light breakfast of your choice is provided on the first day of your
stay at Moosewood, and a complimentary bottle of champagne welcoming you to "The Greatland" is chilled
awaiting your arrival.
This Anchorage vacation house also includes a full kitchen, washer and dryer, television with DVD-player and
cable TV. Bicycles and strollers are available on request. As always, we are delighted to assist our guests with
planning an Alaska vacation.
*Moosewood Vacation Rentals are the finest, most private homes of character available in Anchorage today.
Thank you for your interest, and may you have an unforgettable Alaskan vacation!
