Are you looking for a waterfront cottage on the quiet, family oriented side of Silver Lake with large yard and
private beach? Well, look no further. Our cottage is located right on the water, 3rd house from the west end of
the Lake with 55’ of private frontage. The neighbors on each side are private homes. The Dunes are directly
across the lake from the yard. This end of the lake is typically less windy, and it is a shorter distance over to
the dunes. We are located on a dead-end street, walking distance to Mac Woods Dune Scooters and Whippy
Dip. There is access to the channel that runs from Silver Lake to Lake Michigan (great for kids to explore or
canoe). The beach where the channel meets Lake Michigan makes a great place to enjoy the “big lake”. Little
ones can play safely in the warmer channel water, while the older ones can enjoy the waves, watch the sunset
or walk to the lighthouse. This beach and The Little Sable Lighthouse are just a bike-ride away on the new bike
path that is only blocks away. The cottage yard has both shady and sunny spots for relaxing all day long.
There is a fire pit just a few feet away from the beach for evening entertainment, as well as a nice sandbox for
the kids in the yard close to the water. Just imaging sitting at the end of the 150’ dock dangling your feet in the
water, watching the sunset, or fishing for that “big one”. The water here is knee deep and clear with a sandy
bottom. The drop off is over 150’ out. Getting over to the dunes will be easy in our rowboat with motor, or
paddleboat. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own boat or jetski. We have a boat tie all set up for you.
The cottage itself has a fully equipped kitchen, full bath with shower (no tub), 3 bedrooms with 2 full-size and 1
queen size bed. The great room has table seating for 6, a queen size sofa sleeper, a recliner/rocker and other
misc seating. The TV is set-up with Dish Satellite service and DVD player. The views from the great room are
always fabulous. You can even watch the 4th of July fireworks from inside. Outdoor meals are easy with the
gas grill and picnic table. Window air conditioner and wall heater are available as needed. We supply linens,
towels (bring own beach towels), and paper products.
This is a non-smoking cottage, please. Non-allergenic indoor pets need to be approved on an individual basis.
No Cats due to allergy issues.

For those of you not familiar with Silver Lake, here is some additional information about the area:
Silver Lake is world famous for its sand dunes: between Lake Michigan and Silver Lake are 2,000 acres of
moving sand dunes. Open to the public to drive your dune buggy, jeep, truck, or 4-wheeler. The dunes are
divided into three sections. The northern area is reserved for off-road vehicles where licensed drivers can test
their sand driving abilities. The center region is for hikers and has access to both Lake Michigan and Silver
Lake. The southern section is leased to Mac Woods Dune Rides. These are long, open-top jeeps that people of
all ages can ride in and experience the dunes. Of course, hikers are welcome in this area as well, just be sure
to look before crossing the dune buggy tracks.
Fishing: Lake Michigan provides some of the best fishing for steelhead, coho salmon, perch, chinook salmon,
rainbow trout, lake trout, brown trout, and walleye in the Midwest. Silver Lake fisherman go after blue gills,
perch, bass, pike, walleye and speckled bass.
Biking: The Hart-Montague bike trail is one of the most popular bike trails in the state of Michigan. It is a 22
mile trail that begins in Hart. Check the Silver Lake chamber website for more details. You can also
ride the bike trail from our cottage to the state park or to Lake Michigan, as mentioned above.
Pentwater and Ludington: These nearby towns boast of parks with Lake Michigan beaches and piers. There
are numerous restaurants and shops.
Recreation: There are numerous nearby golf courses, horseback riding stables, mini-golf, Go-carts, and video
arcades.
Shopping: The towns of Ludington, Hart, & Pentwater offer traditional stores, as well as quaint tourist town
shopping. Silver Lake also has limited shopping.
Swimming: A short trip across to the dunes makes an awesome place for swimming. The drop off in most areas
is only a few feet out, making it a lot of fun for kids. The Lake Michigan Beach offers wave surfing, skimmer
board riding, and typical Lake Michigan fun. The beach in front of the cottage is shallow, warm, and great for
little kids. For experienced swimmers, you can even swim across to the dunes.
Dune Hiking: You can go to the south state park at the private dune buggy entrance, walk up A LOT of stairs
onto the dunes and watch all the private dune buggy’s go up and down the hills. Hiking on the dunes is
allowed almost everywhere except the southern part where you can drive your own vehicle on the dunes.
Straight across from the cottage, you can hike all the way over to Lake Michigan – for a fit person, probably an
hours hike. Find lots and lots of drift wood along the way. There are wooded oasis’s in the middle of the
dunes – LOTS of fun!
