Garden
The desert landscape is not only appropriate for the dry climate but
also serves to attract local and migrating birds. The rock retaining
walls and lined garden beds constructed by Dr. Irwin and his family
showcase this area's fascinating geology. There is a gallery of unique
minerals, old mining equipment, and other organic treasures along the
north side of the house. You are welcome to examine them but please
leave them for others to enjoy.

River Tours
Yuma River Tours offers narrated packaged tours for individuals or
groups. Experience the scenery, wildlife and history of this
fascinating stretch of the Colorado River by jet boat or take an
entertaining dinner cruise on the classic paddlewheel boat.
Bird Watching -
The Yuma area hosts around 360 species of resident and migrating
birds. This stretch of the river is part of the 26,000 acre Imperial
Wildlife Refuge. You can reach their newly developed wildlife
interpretive area either by boat or car.
Check out day trips to Kofa Palm Canyon, Cibola National Wildlife
Refuge.
Fishing
This part of the Colorado River offers hundreds of miles of warm calm
un-crowded lakes and channels. Set your line for Bigmouth Bass,
Catfish, Bluegill, Tilapia,
Rockhounding
The Yuma region has such minerals such as quartz, azurite, and
calcite, among others, as well as semi-precious gemstones such as
agates, jasper, onyx, and Apache tears.
An hour's drive north on Hwy 95 takes you to the re-vitalized mining
town of Quartzsite, which has been a rock hound paradise since the
1960's. If you visiting in Jan or Feb you can attend one of their
many gem and mineral shows and shop the open-air flea market.
Hiking/Exploring
Picachio State Recreation Area (reach by boat or car), Kofa Palm
Canyon, Castle Dome Mts. in the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge and the
Imperial National Wildlife Refuge offer challenging as well as less
strenuous trails teaming with botanical, geological, and zoological
wonders.

discretion of the owners
No Pets for rentals of less than two weeks. The property is not fully
fenced and the garden contains pet unfriendly cacti. Long term
renters may inquire about making special arrangements for pets.
