Our home is located in Leelanau County, just outside the city limits of Traverse City. We are about
15 minutes from Cherry Capital Airport. We are nestled in amongst the pines in a rather private
location, yet Grand Traverse Bay is right across the street. We have an abundance of wildlife with
plenty of birds, deer and if you are lucky, the sly fox may be seen. We have a very nice view
overlooking Elmwood Township Harbor, Grand Traverse Bay and Downtown Traverse City. Our home is
very cozy and comfortable with 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths and an abundance of antiques which only adds
to the charm! The home is just under 3,000 square foot and very roomy. The main level has 3
bedrooms, 2 baths, living room, dining room and kitchen. There is a large deck off the living room,
with comfortable chairs, which overlooks a large Koi Pond with a stream that meanders down the bank
on the side of our home. A beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors and listen to the waterfalls of
the pond. Very relaxing! We have a large grill on the deck which is ready for use. The lower
level has one more bathroom, one bedroom, a queen size hide-a-bed (in the family room), a rec room
with ping pong table and darts and a family room with a larger screen television and surround
sound. There is a DVD player connected to the television in the lower level and a VCR connected to
the television in the upper level. This home has a lower walk out so there is also a patio off the
family room on the lower level. This leads out to a nice sitting area and a pathway to the patio
that surrounds the pond. There is a patio table and chairs at the pond in which to sit and relax
and watch the Koi and wildlife. They love to eat and enjoy all you give them! If you like, grab
a good book and relax in the hammock near the pond. (My favorite spot!) There is a horshoe pit off
the lower patio if you would like a nice game of horseshoes. In the evening, feel free to start a
fire in the firepit which is also located off the downstairs patio. If you time your vacation
right, you can watch the 4th of July or Cherry Festival Fireworks, right from the yard.
The harbor is right across M-22 from us, along with the public beach. It is a public harbor and a
great place to launch your boat and enjoy the beautiful West Arm of Grand Traverse Bay and Power
Island. The drive to our home is very large so feel free to bring your boat along as there is ample
space to park it, no matter the length. You can catch a charter fishing trip from the Harbor for
trout or salmon or who knows what else! There are also scuba trips available. There are two
wonderful restaurants within easy walking distance and an ice cream parlor for dessert. Cedar Lake
is less than 1/2 mile away and great for inland fishing or waterskiing. You can even grab a
couple of our fishing poles and try your luck at the elusive muskie in Cedar Lake. Less than 1/4
mile away is the TART Trail (Traverse Area Recreation Trail). This is a paved trail through the
woods and over the streams, that runs for many miles. Hop on our bikes and take a beautiful ride
through the woods of Leelanau County or a 10 minute ride into Traverse City or if you are real
ambitious, you can follow the trail to Suttons Bay, about 15 miles away. There are also many golf
courses within the area and some that are very challenging! If you are into tennis, there are
rackets available to play tennis.
The home comes complete with linens and towels. The kitchen is complete with pans, dishes, coffee
pot, microwave, stove etc. There is a washer and dryer for your use while you are here. We also
have many movies available. We have cable television with many channels. There is also wi-fi
available for your laptop. This home is completely furnished and ready for you to move in and have
all the conveniences of home. Our home does have central air conditioning if it gets too warm!
We are 5 minutes from Munson Medical Center in case of an emergency!
We ask that any smokers, please refrain from smoking in the home.
There are so many activities in the area. The Fourth of July, Cherry Festival, Interlochen Center
for the Arts and the Traverse City Film Festival are huge highlights of the area. There are
museums, art galleries, many cultural events, fine dining, concerts and a fantastic farmer's market,
twice weekly. You can take an evening sail on a beautiful Tall Ship which is about 2 minutes from
our home. There is horseback riding or spend an afternoon touring some of the beautiful wineries in
the area. If you like the water, you can either take a canoe or tubing trip down the river The
Sleeping Bear Dunes is a great place to visit and can be reached in about 40 minutes or so. Spend
an afternoon at historic Fishtown on the shores of Lake Michigan in Leland. Carlson's Fisheries has
fresh catch daily (weather permitting). There are also many unique shops to stroll through. There
are many charter trips out of Leland for either fishing or taking a day trip out to South Manitou
Island. We have two casino's within 25 minutes if you are feeling lucky! There is a wonderful
grocery store within 1 mile along with a bank/atm. (Upon request, we will stock the kitchen/bar for
your arrival.)
