Wonderful Views

Review submitted: July 25, 2014   Date of arrival: July 25, 2013

We stayed in this appealing cottage for four days. As you enter the beautiful front door, you see the master bedroom on the left and a large, lovely bath in front of you. The shower has a unique window made from a ship porthole. After climbing the stairs you arrive at the great room which has access to three decks. the first night we spent an hour on one of the decks that overlooked the mountains and watched storm clouds rolling in from the distance--it was quite a sight! From this deck you can see the path to the hot tub and deck which share the same view. We were there to attend a family reunion and were responsible for preparing dinner for 40 people that second night. The well-stocked kitchen had all the utensils and pans that were needed to prepare the meal. From another porch you can enjoy a view with the sound of running water coming down the mountain. My favorite bedroom is the upstairs alcove complete with bathroom and windows open to the sky. The large hot tub is positioned on a deck and has the most marvelous view of the mountains. This is a most unique cottage and offers a quiet hide-a-way with complete privacy.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway

Owners response: Hello Ann,
Thank you for your descriptive review. The small details our guests notice is still amazing to me. You mentioned the porthole window in the master bath—it’s unique & amazingly, it works. It is very nice to open when showering as it gives one a sense of being "one with nature". I think when we spoke the morning after your check-in, you said the cottage had a whimsical touch. I loved that comment! Of course, we assumed a few gourmet cooks would stay at this quaint cottage, so we made sure to buy all the necessary cooking tools and utensils one would need. Oh, and that view you mentioned - it's just unstoppable. I make sure to get up early enough each morning when I stay there to see the every changing views - it is quite something. And, YES, we do stay in our vacation homes to ensure they are perfect for our guests. We love to experience it all. The water falling sounds from the creek are gently noticeable throughout the property and it is so relaxing and meditative. I think I built the new deck for the hot tub shortly after your stay. We now have a multi-level deck with bistro tables for relaxing after a soak under the stars. It’s also a great place to have early morning breakfast if you so desire. (We even had a wedding on the new deck a month after we built it – how great is that.) Of course, the three decks attached to the house provide plenty of outdoor dining opportunities as you know. Thank you again for coming and I look forward to many more visits from you and your family. All my best, Brea

A secluded, charming mountain getaway!

Review submitted: July 19, 2014   Date of arrival: October 14, 2013

Staying at Charmed Cottage is truly charming! Such an eclectic mix of charm, comfort, casual elegance, old and new. There was so much room to spread out, including having several awesome decks to choose from. Everything was top quality... the bed linens were the most luxurious I've ever slept in. The kitchen was fully stocked with beautiful dishes and top quality pots and pans and utensils so we could cook some delicious meals. The cottage was so tastefully decorated and super clean.

The spacious outdoor hot tub topped off each evening with spectacular views overlooking the mountains.

Even though the Cottage was so secluded and private high atop the mountain, it was a short drive to get groceries or to drive into Asheville for sightseeing.

Brea was so sincere and thorough in everything... from detailed driving directions to a notebook filled with every logistical detail needed for a great stay. A lot of love went into creating this beautiful place! I've been back a couple of times and have recommended it as a great getaway to my friends!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Hi Nancy - oh gosh - your kind words were touching. I'm so glad you loved staying at the cottage and noticed the details. There IS a lot of room to spread out, three decks attached to the house and then there's the hot tub deck on the grassy knoll with that great view. I think you may have missed the newly enlarged deck, now with bistro tables to relax after soaking in the hot tub. Perhaps on your next visit :-) I am so happy you noticed where the cottage got it's name. It is charming, eclectic and comfy. It is whimsical in a lot of little details. Thank you for your continued visits and know that I love having you as a guest. My Best - Brea

Solitude With A View

Review submitted: July 19, 2014   Date of arrival: July 9, 2014

An excellent place to hide out for a few days. What neighbors? A narrow dirt road brings you up the mountain to a truly charmed gem. The views are amazing and all the amenities are present. Sunset in the hot tub alone is worth the trip. We were lucky enough to have raspberries and black berries blooming along the driveway during our stay. A morning walk to pick the fresh, delicious treats to put on our French Toast was the icing on the cake. Downtown Asheville is not far if you want to take advantage of what it has to offer. Brea was very friendly and very easy to work with. I highly recommend experiencing a stay here.

Owners response: Yes - it is extremely private at Charmed Cottage. Thank you for your fabulous review. I love the view as well. I try to get up early enough when there to see the foggy mist that settles in the mountain valley and watch it rise over the next hour or so. It's like smoke rising - awesome experience - especially for a flat-lander city girl like me. So glad you found the berries - I've never been lucky enough to be there when they are ready. Sounds delicious on French toast...YUM. Hope to hear from you again and soon. Best regards, Brea
